Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan has declared he will sue Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng following a Twitter spat between the two late last night.

 

Rahman declared both on Twitter and on his Facebook page yesterday night that he has "had enough" and would sue Lim for implying that he supported the call made by Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali to burn the Malay language Bible.

 

The Twitter spat started when Rahman's Twitter team promoted an article Rahman wrote on his Facebook page about national unity, which was reproduced in several news portals.

At this juncture, Lim tweeted and said: "Tell him to apologise n (and) not support burning of Bibles first!"

 

Lim ( left ) was referring to a Malaysiakini report last year in which Rahman said one can't compare the actions of bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee in insulting Muslims with Ibrahim Ali's urging to burn the Bible.

Rahman had subsequently defended his stance and insisted that his opinion did not mean that he supported the burning of the Bible, and that he was not a "religious bigot".

But the issue was rekindled by Lim yesterday night, and Rahman did not take it too kindly, and tweeted back: "I have had enough of your crass politics. Nothing good comes out of your mouth. Nothing".

He then proceeded to warn Lim: "Despite my explanation, you kept twisting the facts. One more time you imply I support Bible burning I will sue you."

However, Lim did not relent and further prodded Rahman by challenging the latter to sue him.

 

"Wah! scared oh, u wanna sue me am shaking all over... BTW when r u filing suit can't wait to prove d truth jgn buat omong2 kosong," Lim tweeted.

(I'm so scared, you want to sue me and I am shaking all over..by the way when are you filing the suit, I can't wait to prove the truth, don't make empty threats)

To this, Rahman tweeted back: "Enough said. I see you in court".

Rahman then repeated the stance on his Facebook page and explained that he would initiate legal action to prevent this issue from being used by DAP as campaign material in the Kajang by-election.

Gerakan youth chief Tan Keng Liang then chipped in with his own tweet over the feud: "It's time DAP leaders stop slandering BN leaders".
