YOURSAY ‘Both parent must agree if their child was to change their faith.’

Zahid backs IGP's refusal to act in Deepa's case

Aries46: It is really doubtful that some of these people are blinded to the extent of being unaware of right and wrong. But it doesn’t seem to matter to them as long as the victim is ‘orang lain’.

Even the plight of the children deprived of their mother will not move them if the mother is ‘bukan orang kita’.

As we have seen in so many instances when the victim is from the minority race, justice is denied in the name of protecting the religion.

In the case of S Deepa, even former law ministers and lawyers have criticised the police chief’s inaction but to no avail.

It is ignorance and obstinacy par excellence portraying their true nature but surprisingly attributed to upholding race and religion.

Anonymous_1378093545: Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has just sanctioned kidnapping and contempt of court. So one may now take the law into your own hands as you please. The long arm of the law is well and truly tied down.

How interesting that Zahid thinks that what the High Court judge decided is irrelevant, and that non-Muslims will have to abide by Syariah Court rulings irrespective.

Zahid, you are certainly unfit to be home minister and we are so ashamed of you and your total disregard for the laws of this country. Please resign.

You may then blissfully carry on being the proverbial ostrich with its head buried in the ground.

Ferdtan: Birds of a feather flock together. Zahid and IGP (inspector-general of police) Khalid Abu Bakar have so much in common where spewing nonsense is concerned.

The police have stated very clearly that they cannot act due to the conflicting orders of the two courts, a civil and a religious court, and also it concerns a domestic dispute.

If that is so, as many have suggested, the mother, Deepa, should take action by hiring some able-bodied people to grab back the son from the convert father by force.

If the father is hurt in the process like the mother, too bad, the police will not interfere - or will they in this reverse case?

Hindraf and MIC, protector of Indian rights, where are you? Actions, not words, are necessary to help the poor mother. We just wish to see how the police will react if the reverse were to happen to confirm their hypocrisy.

Multi Racial: Never before this country has been lead by leaders who only interested in their own political power and willing to sacrifice the country for it.

Now we know the IGP took directive from the home mnister and it was he who direct the entire police force to disregard High Court decision. Both the home minister and IGP should be charged for contempt in court.

So it is official. As long as Zahid remain as home minister, one can kidnap in the name of religion. If Malaysians continue to vote BN, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Ipohcrite: I never imagine I'll live the day to see the home minister telling the IGP to break the law. And they have no qualms about telling you to shove it! Lawlessness is here to stay.

Jessy43: More evidence that some of our leaders have poor critical thinking and are poor at problem solving. They sit on the fence or wait for problems to be solved by others. Their top leader has successfully trained them not to take action.

Ex-PJ: The problem here is that the IGP/Zahid do not know the constitution and laws are enforced in a subjective and ad-hoc manner. One can again look back at the MH370 incident to see how incompetent and inept these people are.

SpongeBob: This case has become a popularity contest among the Umno leaders, government officers, NGOs and BN component party leaders using a child for their ulterior motive.

Nobody took the interest talking to this poor child and finding out what he is going through. Where is the Welfare Department officers or the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development? Are the minister and the officers laying eggs?

Not Convinced: Zahid, what about the cabinet decision under PM Abdulah Ahmad Badawi? In that 2009 decision, both parent must agree if their child was to change their faith.

Swipenter: Hudud for Muslims exclusively in Bolehland, please. For example: Chop off their hands if they steal and found guilty of doing so. Cut off their tongues if they lie. Stone them to death if found guilty of adultery.

As for the kafirs if they are found guilty of stealing or lying, jail and/or fine them according to the civil and criminal justice system. As for adultery, let the kafir couple file for divorce or let them solve the problems themselves.

Let no Muslims have a choice to choose the civil/criminal justice over hudud. Non-muslims must have an iron clad guarantee that hudud cannot be applied to them under any circumstances. Then you have my vote for hudud in Bolehland.

NuckinFuts: One must learn to read between the lines. What the home minister and the IGP is implying is that the High Court judges and the country's lawyers should just shut up and remain subservient to the police. They are the real boss.

Onyourtoes: Very good home minister. Can we ask Deepa to get someone to kidnap her son from her estranged Muslim husband and then you urge them "talk it out"?

Is this how we work now in Malaysia - who has bigger muscle and who has bigger number?

Law of the jungle rules in custody battle
