'Umno only jumping on hudud bandwagon'

Pakatan Rakyat has been told to be "mindful" that Umno will use PAS’ proposal to implement hudud in Kelantan, in order to get political mileage.
In issuing the reminder, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim pointed to Umno’s inconsistency on the matter.
"They say (they are) okay with its implementation in Kelantan, but they went and rejected an attempt to implement it in Terengganu," he told a press conference today.
He also claimed that Umno is speaking about hudud law in order to "divert" attention from real issues such as corruption and governance.
Umno leaders had said the party’s members of parliament would back PAS’ intended Private Member’s Bill, but had urged it to get the support of DAP and PKR.
DAP is opposed to the move, while Anwar said that a new Pakatan resolution will now be required "but we need to see our priorities first".
