Christian-o-phobia runs wild in Malaysia

YOURSAY ‘Beware, there are also many Shias posing as Sunnis.’

NGO warns of Christian Malays posing as Muslims

Aries46: Pertubuhan Muafakat Sejahtera Masyarakat Malaysia secretary-general Abdul Karim’s polemics on Islam’s latest hidden threats from Christians brings to mind the infamous Jati chief Hasan Ali of the proselytising saga.

He too was embroiled in some ludicrous claims of Muslims being proselytised by Christians but when pressed for evidence it was just hot air and nothing more.

Karim too seems to be on a similar fishing trip but with a little twist. He has taken proselytising to new levels hereto unheard of - the existence of a conspiracy comprising of a Christian Malay ‘insider movement’ where a process of ‘contextualisation’ is used by evangelists to convert Muslims by integrating elements of Islam and Christianity.

But for all his mumbo-jumbo, Karim had little to show in the way of its existence. What puzzles is why does Islam have so many conspiracies and conspirators that is barely heard of in other religions?

Why are people like Hasan and Karim constantly chasing non-existent ghosts as if to doubt its own aspirants and cast Christians as the conspirators?

Sali Tambap: No wonder some of them hate St Paul because he espoused everyone to compete in doing good and in loving one another.

These NGOs are spreading hatred. I cannot and do not see love in what they are doing. If you cannot out-loved the Christians, you are going lose to them.

Hatred do not attract people except for those of the same kind, but love does. It is in people like Mother Teresa where people can see the true loving God. When you espouse hate, what people see in you is evil.

If you are speaking for Islam, you have done great disservice to this religion by making it look like an evil religion. If you cannot love your fellow human beings who do not share your belief, what kind of a religion do you have?

Whatif: This is another Catch-22 situation. When you criminalise apostasy, what do you expect the converts to do? I am also very sure there are also many Shias posing as Sunnis too. Beware.

Ferdtan: Who finance the seminar involving this ‘hate NGO’ to 1,000 participants from varsity and secondary school students?

MCA, where are you? Question your big brother Umno and your BN president Najib Razak why this was allowed?

Why the seminar is putting fear into Muslims about the spread of Christianity when there is no real evidence at all?

PAS is to be blamed for starting this with their intention to bringing in hudud laws. Both Umno and PAS are competing to be more Islamic. Before it was race and now it is religion. Will Malaysia burn before these two parties stop playing with fire?

The Muslims, including those in Malaysia, are screaming at the Christian-majority western countries for the unfair treatment of Muslims, accusing them of ‘Islamophobia’.

Tell us, what are the Umno Muslims doing here to the Christian minority? Indeed, we have our own version of ‘Christian-o-phobia’.

These Umno Muslims, including certain PAS ulamas, have lost their moral right to protest against the ill-treatment by bad Christians elsewhere in the world.

Odin: According to you, Abdul Karim, then PAS president Yusof Rawa said in 1988 that 66,000 Muslim Malays had become apostates.

So, when a Muslim Malay abandons Islam, he is presumed to have become a Christian and not that he has become an atheist or embraced another religion, is that what you are saying?

In 2007, Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria put that figure at 250,000, you said. A Free Malaysia Today report of April 3, 2012 actually quoted him as saying 260,000. But that is not all.

According to the same report, Ridhuan Tee Abdullah said the number was 135. So, which is which? Why the big difference?

I'll tell you why - they plucked these figures from thin air. That mufti, of course, is a figure well respected for his highly intelligent utterings, no?

One more thing. If any in your audience had brains between their ears, they would have asked you how was it that despite so many Muslim Malays having converted to Christianity, hardly any had been prosecuted by the Islamic authorities?

Surely not all 260,000 - or is it actually 2,600,000? - have become closet Christians, if indeed they have embraced Christianity. I know of only two cases of Muslim Malays having embraced Christianity.

One is Lina Joy. The other, a male, was arrested and incarcerated under the ISA. After he was released, he became a pastor.

You are cooking up stories only to discredit Christians. That reflects very well on your religion.

Sodom Me Sodom You: What a paranoid and delusional person you are, Karim Omar. Christians are not a war mongering and spiteful people like you.

We have no need to deviously recruit false believers for the sake of increasing the population and to curry economic and political supremacy. That is Umno's handiwork.

Apa Ini?: If it weren't so dangerous, these idiots who spout figures they refuse to support with evidence should actually draw laughter and ridicule.

The trouble is many Malays really take their hate talk and lies to heart as basically they are a brainwashed lot. Sad.

Oriole: Hatemongering in the disguise of education? Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM) what a disgraceful state of affairs. You may as well come right out and say that you are the university for racists, and red-neck half-wits.

This is as bad as the ‘listen, listen listen’ woman in the other public university. What a disgrace for a university. What value their degree?

Muslims whip themselves into a frenzy of fear
