Before complaining, Dr M should look in the mirror

YOURSAY ‘No objection from him when Arabs were biggest investors.’

Dr M warns JB could slip from Malay hands

Ferdtan: Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in my area there seem to have more Indonesians and Bangladeshi workers, some illegally and others with work permits. Why was there no hue and cry about it?

I’m not talking about foreigners becoming “instant noodle” Malaysians in the bid to change the racial and religious demographic of Sabah, an act allegedly engineered with your full knowledge. Was it because they are all adherents of your religious faith?

Why pick on Johor? It is obvious that this is your often-used Singapore bashing to win the hearts and minds of the Malays.

Mahathir, though you didn’t mention who the “new citizens” are; we know. After so many of our living years growing up with you as PM, we can read you like a book.

Swipenter: Mahathir didn't voice his objection when the Arabs were the biggest investors in Johor Bahru. They withdrew their investments when the 2008 financial hit them hard.

And he is not happy now with the new set of investors. Anything wrong with these "new citizens" compared to what we are getting from around the neighbouring countries for decades?

Casey: This hypocrite has secured his children power and wealth. I hope he can now use whatever little clout that he has left to undo - as much he can with the little time he has - the ills left by the aftermath of his over two decades of callous administration.

He'd used harsh words like "a half-past-six nation" to vent his displeasure when his successor, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, scraped his proposed Scenic Bridge.

Sometimes, he raised his displeasure over issues; such as the prevalence of corrupt culture; the lack of press freedom; and the protection required by Proton and other GLCs (government-linked companies) to stay afloat.

But at other times, he fanned the flames of and stoked up racial and religious bigotries. Ironically though, he would never take a moment to reflect and ask: why things are the way they are in Bolehland? Nor had he ever express remorse for the dismal state of affair.

An analogy may be drawn between him to a retired school principal grudgingly complaining of the lackadaisical performance of the school - with prevalence hooliganism, poor teaching and learning culture, widespread misappropriation of school funds, and deplorable state of toilets, etc - which he'd mentored and governed for 23 years. It was as if his criticisms were leveled at another school.

And however depressing the current state of affairs, they have nothing to do with him. Is he suffering from grandiose delusion? Or just a serial hypocrite? Or both?

Anonymous #42582403: The Malays have sold all their lands to foreigners for a profit, so what to complain? With the corrupted money, Umno could have developed the place.

This is how commercial developers work. Umno has been talking for more than 50 years and continuosly blaming others for their poor leadership, corruption and racism, except themselves.

The propaganda days are over and we are in the digital age where we know everything without having to watch, listen and read the government-linked TVs, radios and newspapers.

Basically: If Dr M is proud that JB is in Malay hands now, I dare Dr M to walk around the city at night without any bodyguards, starting from the Causeway immigration entry around Komtar and through the sidestreets, and see if he doesn't get mugged.

If JB slips at all, it would be an improvement from the cesspool it is right now.

Wira: Foreigners have already beginning to take over Sabah, thanks to the old man and his Project IC, thereby leaving Sabahans poorer. At least Singapore makes everyone more prosperous. Ditto Project Iskandar.

Sirach: Dr M has a valid point. The reports of Chinese companies (from China) acquiring vast tracts of land with massive development potential is unsettling. If unchecked, the risk of Malaysians (not just Malays) becoming foreigners in their own land is real.

Selling land indiscriminately to foreigners purportedly to attract foreign capital carries uncertain, possibly risky, long-term consequences.

DSM: Well Tun, it was you who first proposed Malaysia to become a developed nation by 2020. Our people do not seem to posess manufacturing gift as proven by the Proton failure to produce high quality cars.

So the only thing we know well is making houses and tall buildings and sell them to people with a lot of money. So why complain. You ask for it.

Pemerhati: We can also say that Malaya slipped from the hand of the natives like the Sakais, Semangs, Jakuns, etc, into Malay hands and then into the hands of the Western colonialists.

After independence in 1957, all the PMs of the country were of foreign ancestry but the constitution enabled them to call themselves Malays.

One such constitutional Malay of Keralan ancestry was the leader of the country for 22 years and he remained in power by playing the racial and religious card, by getting foreigners to vote illegally and through massively rigged and unfair elections.

He used the monopolised media to fool the native Malays into thinking that he was their protector and saviour by giving them crumbs and crutches while stealing billions.

He now continues with his racial mischief as the patron of Perkasa and by giving the economic development in Johor Baru a racial slant.

NewMalaysia: Dr M, guess who started the ball rolling? Remember the Multimedia Super Corridor? Malaysia my second home programme? Illegal immigrants given IC in Sabah?

You have cultivated a rent-seeking culture during your time, and many new and younger generation of rent-seeking warlords are now hungry for fast and easy wealth, wishing to join the elite crony group of BN.

Many of those older generation from your time are still holding onto the permits, licences, contracts, therefore the younger generation got to think of new ways of rent-seeking by working with foreigners to exploit whatever opportunity to make them rich fast and easy.

This of course include selling off whatever resource or land possible to foreigner, so Dr M, don't ever point your finger and blame others when many of the BN and Umno members and their family are still living a lavish lifestyle from ill-gotten money, while the rest of the people are suffering from hardship.

Earn your right to critic by disclosing your and your family’s wealth first.

Roar For Truth: Tun, who are the greedy landowners selling their lands to foreigners, and who are the corrupt officials who are approving the projects and finally who are the silent partners of NJB (New Johor Bahru)?

After their ill gains are gone, they accuse the minority races of having a bigger cake of the economy and stealing their land.
