The 'dangerous' uncles and aunties in Penang

YOURSAY ‘KJ, what are you talking about? Are Pekida and Tiga Line registered?’

KJ says PPS dangerous, defends crackdown

Pemerhati: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin may be speaking the truth when he says that PPS is dangerous.

We have seen that on several occasions in the past in Penang, thugs have harassed and embarrassed the opposition leaders during outdoor meetings and they have even barged into the Penang state assembly.

The police, who were supposed to prevent such incidents from happening, just stood by and let the thugs carried on with their dastardly behaviour and activities.

This shocking and strange behaviour of the police (who are known lackeys of Umno) strongly indicates that the thugs had been hired by the Umno leadership.

It is quite likely that the hired thugs, whose bravado only comes when they are protected by the police and paid by Umno, might have complained to Khairy and Umno that their jobs in future would become dangerous if the opposition leaders are surrounded and protected by PPS.

Khairy thus is just echoing the fears of Umno’s thugs and he and Umno have asked their lackey police to act against PPS.

Tell the Truth: KJ, what are you talking about? Are Pekida and Tiga Line registered? Why are they still operating? Why no arrests? You are a fool to hoodwink the people with your stupid comments.

If the police force were efficient, we wouldn’t need PPS. It is because of their incompetency that Penang has to have its own security force.

Mushiro: It is a given that KJ just does not know how to be objective and fair. He has to fully and blindly support any move by Umno and their police, even if the police are wrong.

Yes, dismantle PPS, dismantle PAS' Unit Amal and only allow Umno hooligans who have been very violent in Penang. And KJ believes that Umno stands a better chance to win in elections this way?

Ah Hoe: Khairy should remember that during his father-in-law's premiership he promoted recognition of Mat Rempit as a group, so he's hypocritical in his condemnation of the PPS.

At least, the PPS has been doing community work while his Mat Rempit have been notorious for being a danger on the road and their association with other unsavoury activities.

Oh Ya?: Please explain how a state government organisation could be an illegal organisation? And how could an organisation that is supplementing the police and rescue team in their work be dangerous?

By the ruling elite's logic, they should crack down on People’s Volunteers Corps (Rela), too. What about the Umno Youth people who mobbed the DAP headquarters? Who are more dangerous?

RZC: If the PPS members have committed crimes, you take action against these individuals as you would take action against all common criminals. Arresting all the volunteers is different from arresting criminals. An Oxford graduate should know the difference.

If indeed the PPS had assaulted the man who complained, please charge them with assault. Do not pick on others.

JustAMalaysian: PPS is dangerous, Khairy? Do they go around armed with firearms? Do they go around beating people up, robbing, intimidating or threatening people? Do they go around issuing summonses or arresting people or raiding premises?

From what I see, the PPS volunteers do not behave like gangsters and certainly they do not act like police. How can they be dangerous?

Khairy, many people believe that you could be a future PM because you are intelligent (you are from a top university, aren't you?) but look what you have just uttered.

Master Sun: If these volunteers, who consist of uncles and aunties, some of whom are over 60 years old, plus some youth working without pay and without any formal training, can take over the task of the police, then do we still need PDRM?

James_3392: PPS is really doing a marvellous job in keeping Penang safe and tourist-friendly, more so, there is never the need to pay 'duit kopi'. Imagine if only Johor Bahru could have the same set-up, life there would be a paradise.

MalaysiaMyhome: This act of arresting unarmed voluntary and unarmed civilians known for helping the communities will backfire on Umno-BN government. Thanks for making CM Lim Guan Eng a hero.

The government seems to be in a state of confusion as to what to do next as they see power gradually slipping away from their hands.

The same is observed in the manner this Umno-BN government is rushing in charging Anwar Ibrahim and key opposition leaders under the Sedition Act. I guess desperate times require desperate measures.

Abasir: Has Khairy been sleeping for the last four years to have just discovered this "dangerous" group of volunteers? And would there be any need for them if the police did their work to ensure the safety of citizens, instead of serving as the private militia of Umno?

And how do these volunteers suddenly become gangsters? The Umno riff-raff who threatened to burn down the DAP headquarters and who stormed into Penang state assembly have already claimed that position.

NuckinFuts: These are volunteers, like in the Rukun Tetangga programme, only with a fancy uniform. Get that into your thick skull, KJ. You want to know what is dangerous?

Dangerous is a PM who urges the rakyat to emulate ISIS, take up arms and go on a slaughter spree. That's dangerous.

Majoring on the Minor: Did you know that there is this programme that the police organised called ‘community policing’?

The members are residents of housing areas who banded together under the banner of the police to patrol and generally look after the security of their area.

And oh, by the way, if you're as old as me, did you know that in Merdeka parades many, many years ago, the Rukun Tetangga groups also participated in them. Every day another nail gets driven into the coffin.

Hank Marvin: Even security guards in schools and supermarkets have "ranks", KJ. Are these people dangerous as well?
