PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has urged Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) director-general Faizoull Ahmad to explain himself over allegations that he had been seen together with a “wanted criminal”.

“Faizoull’s actions are very suspicious and bring up all kinds of questions. In addition, there is speculation that he is planning to buy the Glasgow Rangers football team.

“Therefore I urge Faizoull to give an explanation on this issue because as a Felda director-general, he needs to be accountable for his actions,” he said in a statement today.

Nik Nazmi was referring to a report by the Scottish tabloid Daily Record that Faizoull - who is also the chairperson of the Felda United Football Club - had visited the Scottish football club on Wednesday.

Reportedly accompanying him was a UK national of Pakistani origin, Rafat Rizvi. The BBC quoted a Glasgow Rangers spokesperson as saying that he was accompanying Faizoull as his adviser.

Rafat ( right ) is listed on Interpol’s website as a wanted person for “corruption, money laundering and bank crimes”, but he reportedly sued the international body in 2010 to have his name removed.

A Jakarta court had convicted him in absentia for fraud in 2010 for his role in Indonesia’s Bank Century collapse, and he was sentenced to a 15-year term of imprisonment.

However, Indonesia does not have an extradition treaty with the UK.

A Glasgow Rangers spokesperson also denied allegations that the Felda director-general was buying over the club, saying that only a youth development programme was discussed.

Malaysiakini had contacted Felda yesterday for comment on the allegations, but has yet to receive a response.
