KJ, no need to sugarcoat your criticisms of Dr M

YOURSAY ‘He confirms that Umno does not have guts to criticise Mahathir.’

Dr M is wrong, says his 'No 1 enemy' KJ

Man on the Street: According to Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ), "We are the most open party in terms of accepting criticism from members."

Are you sure, KJ? Based on my observation, whenever Umno members criticise the top leadership, the mainstream media do not highlight their criticism and the top leaders react by taking away the carrots from them. They even get isolated and eventually they leave the party.

And if persons from outside Umno criticise the top party leader, they are charged under Sedition Act with the help of Umno IGP (inspector-general of police), AG (attorney-general) and the courts.

Mushiro: Mahathir was very blunt to say that Umno do not have guts to criticise its leader, meaning that Umno members are a castrated lot, and yet Khairy, the Umno Youth chief, is very accommodating and apologetic about Mahathir's statement.

Khairy's softie response further confirms that Umno does not have guts to criticise Mahathir.

Ipohcrite: Khairy, you are nothing but an apologist for PM Najib Razak. However, if you sincerely wish to defend Najib, you should give former PM Mahathir Mohamad a piece of your mind instead of sugar-coating your comments.

‘Jadi jantan sikit lah,’ like they say. And by the way, Najib is not one to allow space to others to criticise him. The truth is that he cannot intellectually counter any criticism hurled at him. That's why he kept his silence. Period.

Terjah: After having waited for quite a long time to be appointed as a cabinet minister, Khairy is now obliged to defend Najib.

I don’t see any Umno leaders at whatever level has criticised Najib on any issue, corruption, FLOM's (First Lady of Malaysia’s) roles, big spending, etc. So how can KJ say that Umno leaders are free to criticise Najib?

Anonymous_3e06: I do not often agree with Dr M but this one is a fact. We live in a culture where we cannot criticise our leaders.

We are scared of criticising leaders because we know where our nasi lemak is coming from. So KJ, get real for once. This is the reality of Malaysian politics.

Commentable: Are you kidding when you said Umno has never prevented anyone from criticising its leaders, including party president Najib? It is seditious even if one were to speak bad about his wife, let alone criticise him.

DAP leader Teresa Kok is one fine example that comes to mind and even that too the criticism was made by a replica that has a fleeting resemblance of the woman.

Doc: This looks like a scene from the movie ‘Gunfight at OK Corral’ brewing here. Dr M has drawn his guns and so has KJ.

I am chomping on my popcorn and waiting anxiously to see who is going to bite the dust and how this Umno gun-slinging movie is going to end. To quote McDonald's tagline here - I'm loving it!

PAS man warns of 'worse than BN' scenario

Ourvotesdecide: When the going gets tough, only the tough gets going. My salute to PAS state assemblypersons YB Saari Sungip and YB Hasnul Baharuddin. You both read, analysed and understood multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia very well.

Malaysia really urgently needs such intelligent, moderate and progressive Malay/Muslim leaders to liberate the country, especially the Malays and Muslims, from the tiny minority Talibans and Isis/Isil (Islamic State) racial and religious bigots in our midst.

Malaccan: Saari remains consistent with the integrity and character he showed when he stood in solidarity with his Pakatan allies and upheld the decision of the earlier PAS muktamar which has remained in force.

Saari is the face of what PAS can be and what Pakatan Rakyat hope it will continue to be - a trustworthy partner to better the future of all Malaysians. His only fault was to run afoul of the PAS president and his coterie of like-minded clerics whose hold on integrity and loyalty is questionable.

Aries46: I tend to agree with Saari that those who betrayed Pakatan and threw their support, together with Umno, behind Khalid Ibrahim that enabled him to claim majority support to HRH (His Royal Highness) to continue as MB will face the voters' wrath, not only in Selangor but other Pakatan-administered states as well.

Malaysians don't take kindly to traitors whatever party they come from. Ask those that betrayed PKR and Anwar Ibrahim where are they today.

For that matter, even PAS’ future in Selangor is shaky with Abdul Hadi Awang and his conservatives claiming to supersede its central executive committee decisions and betraying Pakatan presidential council consensus in the Selangor MB saga.

Unless the progressive elements in PAS are willing to distance themselves from the unity government supporters, they stand the risk of being tarred by the same brush along with Hadi.

Quigonbond: Saari is right and if PAS has a cyber division, they should take note of this news report and the comments in Malaysiakini seriously.

Read our collective lips. Outside Kelantan, and soon enough in Kelantan itself, PAS is dead so long as Hadi and his merry band of ulamas are still in charge.
