Moderate Malaysians have given Isma a red card

YOURSAY ‘Shifting goal posts are not accepted in this kind of a game.’

We are not 'extremists', Isma refutes G25

Appum: Isma, self-praise is no praise at all. I hope you understand this statement. How we wish you could be labelled as ‘moderate’, then we will have a happier Malaysia without all the threats made against the minorities.

The fact that the moderates, and for that matter, more reliable and reputable ones, have come out (and are well-supported) means you are trying to shift your stance towards the middle. We are afraid that shifting goal posts is not accepted in this kind of a game.

If you are really extreme in your views and actions, be proud in your own shallow way and stand your ground. You are free to express your views but accept other peoples' views, too.

Fortunately, most Malaysians are moderates and you know your influence will fail soon now that they have decided to rise against you. You are now given the red card, as in soccer.

Negarawan: "We must fight extremism with moderation," so said Najib Abdul Razak in a Twitter posting.

The question is why is Najib not fighting the extremism from Isma and Perkasa? Why doesn't Najib have the courage to meet the G25 group?

What does this tell us about the sincerity of his Twitter posting? Najib is all form but no substance and credibility.

RatBatBlue: By the way Isma deputy president Aminuddin Yahaya speaks, one would think he is a great constitutional lawyer who has the law at his fingertips.

Come on, tell us who is attacking the constitution, who is insulting Islam and who is robbing the Malays of their rights and privileges?

You and your group are living in a delusional world. Wake up and start doing some hard work like the majority of Malaysians are doing to survive and stop living off government handouts.

Proarte: Isma said: "But there are certain quarters who want the same rights, not just in terms of economy, but in all matters including Islam."

If Islam does not recognise that humans are born of equal worth then it should be rejected. The Islam of Isma supports inequality, racism and religious bigotry and that is why it is regarded as extremist.

The constitution guarantees freedom of worship, so why is it that Isma does not support the right of Lina Joy to be legally recognised as a Christian even though she was born a 'Malay'?

The Quran explicitly says that there should be no compulsion in matters of religion, so why Malays are denied their right to choose their own religion? Allah created the Earth so no one citizen has more right to live in Malaysia than another.

Why then has Isma refered to non-Malays as 'pendatangs' when they themselves are recent immigrants to Malaysia relative to the Orang Asal, Ibans and Kadazans? The above are valid reasons to label Isma racist and Islamic fanatics.

Ex-PJ: Proarte, well written and logically argued but logic or consistency in thinking is not one of their strong points. It is wasted on these government-sponsored organisations.

Umno is really playing with fire. It started with slaughter of chickens and smearing of blood. What will it end with?

Odysseus: You don't defend the constitution by mocking other religions, depriving others space to worship, suppress others from carrying out their religious activities.

Since you proclaimed you are a champion of the constitution, have you championed the cause of other races and religion?

The only race you championed is Malay. The only religion you championed is Islam. Please show us which part of the constitution that deny other races or religions their rights in this country.

Unafraid: Isma advocates the dominance of Islam over other religions. Yet the constitution safeguards the sanctity of other faiths and the rights of non-Muslims to practise their religion freely.

Isma says that other religions must give in and be subservient to Islam. Nowhere in the constitution states that. The constitution only says that Islam is the official religion in Malaysia.

It is one thing to defend the constitution. It is quite another thing to twist it and misinterpret it to dominate others.

It is intolerant, radical and insensitive to non-Muslims. Add on to all these, a biased slant to the Malay race, Isma is definitely extremist.

Not Smart: Isma, you may claim that you are not an extremist group but you’re surely a group seeking to disrupt peace and harmony in the country.

You should revisit the issues raised since 2008 and take note that every one of them was lopsided, unreasonable, racial and religious.

Myrights: Let me refresh these extremists what they said in 2014. Clearly, it shows their extremism and certainly, their objective is not to defend the federal constitution but their desire to change it to suit their desire to be Malaysian version of Isis.

May 6 - Chinese are intruders in Malaysia. The Chinese are immigrants and Chinese migration was a mistake and has to be rectified.

April 4 - Isma tells infidels to shut up about hudud . Non-Muslims do not have rights to talk about implementation of hudud.

May 9 - Hudud should be enforced on non-Muslims , too.

Dec 22 - Muslims should not wish Christians Merry Christmas.

Tell the Truth: You think you are not extremists but your actions sure speak louder than words. Who are you defending the constitution and Islam from?

Kubang: If Isma is considered a moderate NGO, the rest of us can be regarded as 'ultra' moderates.

Anonymous_1408265047: I have been following the writings and utterances of Isma for some time now and I have come to the conclusion that if all the brains in that dismal organisation were put in a heap, there would not be a complete one.
