Nazir Razak, the brother of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, has posted a photograph of Michael Jackson with the title of his famous number, 'You are not alone'.

The image was uploaded on the corporate figure's Instagram account with the caption: "Now appearing in Malaysian politics."

This got tongues wagging as to the intention behind the posting, given that former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed that he is alone in his quest to seek answers from Najib.

Yesterday, however, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin expressed support for Mahathir, saying the latter is not alone in pursuing the truth.

Prior to that, celebrities such as Siti Nurhaliza also backed the former prime minister.

Previously, there were reports of a rift between Najib and his brothers, which was speculated to be a result of the prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor.

The brothers also issued a joint statement when the Prime Minister’s Office claimed that Najib and his family’s lavish lifestyle was a result of inheritance.

Mysterious wealth

This was in response to an article in the New York Times on the prime minister’s wealth.

However, Najib's siblings argued that their late father Abdul Razak Hussein, the second prime minister, was a frugal man and talk about wealth tainted his reputation .

The New York Times report highlighted Rosmah's collection of luxury handbags and jewellery on her husband’s salary of US$100,000 (RM370,000) a year.

The report also zoomed in on Rosmah's son from her first marriage, Riza Aziz, who has emerged as a prominent film producer in Hollywood.

This included Riza's purchase of a US$33.5 million (RM117.5 million) apartment in New York and a house in Beverly Hills worth at least US$17.5 million (RM61.5 million), despite previously being just a junior-level bank officer.

In a blog posting today, Mahathir, who has been on the offensive against Najib, also raised the issue of the couple’s extravagance.
