In a post on Instagram , Siti Nurhaliza said she will always love and be with Mahathir because of his past contributions towards developing Malaysia.
"He should be appreciated and he is a good example," she wrote in a post that has been "liked" 17,100 times.
Accompanying her post is a photograph of Mahathir against a backdrop that reads "1MDB", accompanied by his recent quote: "I know I'm alone".
The same photograph was shared on actress Rozita Che Wan's Instagram account.
"Tun, you are not alone. We are firmly behind you. But we are just ordinary folk. Who will listen to us?" she asked in a post that has been shared 10,500 times.
Her post also included the hashtag #bencigst, which appears to be gaining popularity on Instagram .
On April 2 - the eve Najib Abdul Razak's sixth anniversary as prime minister - Mahathir launched a broadside against the premier , demanding answers, among others, on alleged irregularities in 1Malaysia Develop Bhd (1MDB) and also the motive behind the murder of Altantuya Shariibuu.
He also warned that should these issues not be addressed by the premier, BN would be defeated in the next general election.
Following this, the several state chapters of Umno, along with Umno Youth , Puteri and Wanita wings, have pledged support for Najib.
