PAS resubmits hudud Private Member's Bill

PAS has re-submitted a notice to table a Private Member's Bill pertaining to Islamic legislation, Hudud Law in the Dewan Rakyat at its next sitting on May 18.

The party's deputy president, Mohamad Sabu hoped the bill could be tabled for debate as there was no time to table it during the first Parliament sitting from March 9 until April 9.

"The second notice has been submitted, and (PAS) handed it over to the (Dewan Rakyat) Speaker and government (to decide)," he said at a talk in Kota Bharu.

Mohamad, who is also known as Mat Sabu, said if the bill was eventually passed after it was tabled, it would enable PAS to amend the Syariah Court Act (Criminal Jurisdiction) 1965 to pave the way for the implementation of Hudud in Kelantan.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who is also Marang MP, had previously presented the notice to table the motion in the Dewan Rakyat on March 18.
