The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has instructed Umno blogger Shahbudin Husin to take down his blog post questioning the coincidence of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's official visit to Indonesia with his son's wedding in Jakarta.

The order was issued in an email to Shahbudin dated yesterday, which he also published in his blog.

In the letter, the MCMC furnished an extract of Ahmad Zahid's press statement addressing the question posed by Shahbudin where the deputy prime minister stressed that the wedding was planned in such a way by his daughter-in-law's family, who footed all the bills.

"Therefore, MCMC urges you to take down the content from the said portal," states the commission’s letter.

Following this, Shahbudin ( photo ) said, as a good citizen he complied with the order and has taken down the posting.

He added that the move was also out of respect for MCMC.

"God willing, I will continue to write as usual, based on my instinct and what I believe is right to be highlighted," he said.

The blog posting on the wedding was uploaded on Sept 20 but only caught the deputy prime minister’s attention at the end of the month.

Shahbudin was on Sept 30 summoned by the MCMC for questioning, based on what he said was a complaint lodged by Zahid's aide.

Zahid released a statement a day later to address the issues raised in the blog posting.
