Lawyer Mohd Hafarizam Harun said he will seek instructions from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak since former MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik has responded legally that he would not apologise.

‎This comes after the seven-day deadline following a legal letter of demand issued by Hafarizam's ( photo ) firm last week expires today.

"I will have to seek instructions from client.

"PM is away and also very busy with budget preparations as the tabling of the budget is this Oct 23," he said in a text response to Malaysiakini .

Najib issued a letter of demand to Ling last Monday, following his call to the PM to resign.

Ling's position is being seen as in support of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who has made similar calls.

On Friday it was initially reported that Hafarizam has yet to receive a reply from Ling's lawyers.

However, Ling's lawyer Ranjit Singh said the former MCA president's reply had been faxed to Hafarizam's office on Thursday.

Yesterday at the MCA Youth annual general meeting, one delegate urged the party leadership to openly call for Najib's resignation , while another asked whether MCA had a share in the RM2.6 billion "political fund".
