Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali today sidestepped a question on whether PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang offered him the job of MB of a PAS-Umno unity government.

This comes after former PAS leader Khalid Samad revealed that Azmin told PAS central committee members he was approached to lead the proposed unity government last year, prompting the central committee members to confront Hadi.

“It doesn’t arise. I’m not a PAS member and I do not sit in PAS meetings,” he told reporters when asked at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Khalid Samad said Azmin was “shocked” and told then PAS central committee member Dr Hatta Ramli, who raised it at a central committee meeting.

“Khalid Samad mentioned my name, I can’t do anything about it,” Azmin said when pressed.

The MB, who is also PKR deputy president, last week said he knows nothing of the plan to form a unity government between PAS and Umno.

The alleged unity government plan was exposed by PAS' Salor assemblyperson Husam Musa last week, prompting PAS to accuse him of sabotage .

Azmin took over as MB from Khalid Ibrahim, who was sacked from PKR.
