PAS is employing Umno tactics to attack DAP, especially in its latest allegations that the Israelis offered the party US$300 million (about RM1.2 billion) in the last general election to build an airbase in Port Dickson if it captured Putrajaya.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng vehemently denied the claims, saying it was not only a "malicious lie but slanderous as well".

He said that former officer Razali Abdul Rahman, who made the claims, as alleged by PAS research director Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki, had never worked under him or given any important task.

"Why are we attacked when we have never met with the Israelis?" asked Lim.

"There are leaders who have met and shook hands with the Israelis, why is that not a problem?" he asked.

Lim said PAS' attacks smack of "double standard and hypocrisy" and was targeted at undermining DAP's image among Malay Muslims.

He said such attacks also created hatred towards non-Muslin leaders.

"Why they never criticised someone who got RM2.6 billion?" he asked, clearly referring to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Najib has admitted receiving the money in his private bank accounts but denied using it for personal gain.

Lim urged PAS to show proof that DAP was offered RM1.2 billion to back its allegation or face legal action.

"I have instructed my lawyer to proceed with legal action against those who made the slanderous claims," he added.

"We will also take legal action against newspapers which perpetuate such lies," he warned.
