Amid the raging snooze debate, a new image has emerged showing how opposition elected representatives have also been stealing forty winks in the House.

Those featured in the image are former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, PKR's Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (who is now an independent MP) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.

The image is being circulated in the social media in response to the attacks against newly-minted Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.

Ahmad Bashah's predecessor Mukhriz Mahathir, who was forced to relinquish his post, started the ball rolling when he quipped, "I hope he does not fall asleep."

Following this, a video was circulated showing Ahmad Bashah apparently dozing off during a function at the state palace.

However, the Umno leader denied he was asleep, claiming that he was "appreciating" ( menghayati ) the ruler's speech with his eyes closed.

Among his detractors was DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, who claimed that after watching the video twice, he is convinced that Ahmad Bashah was slumbering

During the swearing-in ceremony yesterday, an image of Ahmad Bashah appearing to doze off again went viral on social media.

The image was uploaded on Kelab Che Det's Facebook page with the caption: "Congratulations. May Kedah continue to prosper. Old MB changed with a new one, for sure the replacement is the best. Congratulations!!!"

Ahmad Bashah's daughter yesterday came to the defence of her father, who is also being attacked for not having tertiary qualifications.

"Yes, my dad has no high qualifications. No Master's, no PhD, neither a diploma, overseas degree or even by a motivator or professional trainer.

"It was because he had to take on the task of being the father in his family when his own dad passed away. He sold chicken eggs, worked as lorry attendant, you name it," she said.
