DAP has denied issuing a gag order to its members on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's bungalow scandal.

DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke said instead, there has only been an advisory to Penang assemblypersons to let appointed spokespersons deal with the scandal should any issues arise.

Loke said besides Lim, the spokespersons are Penang DAP chairperson Chow Kon Yeow, state exco member Jagdeep Singh Deo and party legal adviser and Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, who have the full facts of the case.

"(But) if they (DAP members) want to talk no one can stop them. We are not stopping them anyway," the Seremban MP told reporters in the Parliament lobby today.

Earlier today, The Star reported that a gag order on the scandal had been placed on all party leaders.

"It's not a gag order. The Star again misreported," Loke ( photo ) said.

Klang MP Charles Santiago said a gag order on the scandal would make no sense.

"This Thursday when I go back to (Klang) and people are going to ask me, I can't say that there is a gag order.

"That would be stupid of me. This is not an issue that you issue a gag order. This issue you need to explain to people for the truth to come out," Charles said.

Lim has come under fire after it was alleged that he bought a bungalow in George Town at RM2.8 million, a price that is said to be way below the market value.

When the scandal first broke, the chief minister had said that he needed his wife's permission before giving the media access to the house, due to privacy concerns.

Lim had denied any wrongdoing in buying the house.
