S'WAK POLLS With less than 24 hours to go before nomination day in Sarawak, PKR has asked DAP to back out of seats that PKR originally wanted to contest in.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, however, is confident that PKR will not nominate candidates in seats the DAP wants to contest in tomorrow.

"I will keep faith with PKR's national leadership. I believe PKR and DAP will keep our ends of the bargain," Lim said at a press conference in Miri tonight.

This comes as PKR vice president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin issued a statement urging DAP to go back to the negotiating table.

"We beg (DAP) to retract their demands on seats that PKR had contested in and had been agreed between us for almost a decade.

"With just hours left before nominations, we sternly urge (DAP) to go back to the negotiating table to ensure a win-win candidate," Shamsul said.

Malaysiakini reported that PKR deputy president Azmin Ali had apparently given PKR Sarawak the green light to contest against DAP in five seats.

The seats are Murum, Mambong, Simanggang, Ngemah and Mulu.

If true, this will undermine Pakatan Harapan’s decision at the national level on the allocation of seats in Sarawak.

DAP Sarawak chief Chong Chieng Jen today said the party would contest in Batu Kitang against PKR, if PKR contests against it in the five seats.

Sarawak goes to the polls on May 7.
