PAS Youth chief Nik Muhammad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has been taken to task for urging his party leadership to reclaim the seats which were loaned to DAP in the last general election.

However, a DAP leader denied the existence of such a deal between the two parties.

Based on records, DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke claimed there were no negotiations on this issue between the former allies before the 2013 national polls because there were no overlapping seats.

"I wish to remind Nik Abduh that DAP is a party which has been battling in the Malaysian political arena for 50 years.

"Almost all the seats DAP contested and won in the last general election were seats contested since 1969, which is the first general election it participated in since its inception in 1966," he added in a media statement.

Being someone who is described as religious, Loke urged Nik Abduh to be more responsible in his statements and present concrete facts.

The DAP leader accused the PAS Youth chief of attempting to create a negative perception to confuse the party grassroots into believing that PAS was the only one which made sacrifices when it collaborated with DAP and PKR.

"The truth is, PAS also benefited from its cooperation with DAP and PKR, who helped PAS win seats it has never won, especially in Perak, Selangor and Johor," he said.

Describing Nik Abduh as arrogant, Loke said the PAS Youth chief failed to recognise the contributions of jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in ushering PAS into the mainstream of politics through the Reformasi era in 1998.

Nik Abduh had made the call during his keynote address at the PAS Youth Muktamar in Kota Bharu yesterday.

Meanwhile, PKR Youth called for seat negotiations to be expedited between the opposition parties.

The wing's deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin said PAS should hand over several seats to PKR since the Islamic party had repeatedly failed to win in these constituencies.
