MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon has questioned whether PAS supports the Islamic State's (IS) declaration of war on Malaysia.

This was after the IS associates in the Philippines yesterday released a propaganda video vowing to behead Malaysian police and called on their allies to kill non-believers in Malaysia.

Chong raised this based on a history of Jihadists having links to PAS members.

"Is PAS supportive of the 21-minute recruitment video clip or will PAS dare to condemn the video, the messages it is advocating and IS overall evil?" he said in a statement today.

He pointed out that PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz's brother, Nik Adli, was detained under the Internal Security Act in 2001 for suspected involvement in Kumpulan Mujahiddin Malaysia, which wanted to wage a holy war in Afghanistan.

Chong said that Nik Adli was detained with Mohd Rafi Udin, the man who was featured in the IS propaganda video declaring war against the police and "non-believers" in Malaysia.

He added that Nik Adli was also detained with Mohd Lofti Ariffin, who was in 2014 killed while fighting in Syria for a group linked to the Al-Nusra Front.

Chong pointed out that Nik Abduh had in a Facebook posting glorified Mohd Lofti's death and the PAS muktamar in 2014 even observed a minute of silence for him, describing him as a “martyr”.

Mohd Lofti was the former Kedah PAS information chief. Nik Adli was released from ISA in 2006.

"We cannot afford to take terrorism lightly. We cannot discount that lone wolf operatives may strike anytime, anywhere, without warning – be they suicide bombers or assailants wielding plain machetes or sharp objects.

"If necessary, the full force of Security Offences (Special Measures) Act and Prevention of Terrorism Act should be used against them, and their accounts deactivated.

"Likewise, anyone who is in contact with Mohd Rafi on Facebook and other social media accounts should be investigated by the authorities too," he said.
