A group calling itself ‘Concerned Citizens’ has offered a RM10,000 reward for information on those who sent the Islamic State-styled death threat to Bersih leaders.

This was revealed by DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng, who represented the group, at the Parliament lobby this morning.

"On behalf of some concerned citizens, they are offering a cash reward of RM10,000 to whoever... individuals or parties, including the police, leading to the arrest of the senders of those terrorising photos...," he said.

Bersih had received three doctored images which showed a man dressed in black and wearing a balaclava holding the movement leader Maria Chin Abdullah, steering committee member Mandeep Singh and former Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan.

It is reminiscent of IS beheading videos released to the media.

Maria said the person who threatened her also had pictures of her children's identity cards.

Meanwhile, Lim said those who had relevant information could contact him directly or provide the information to DAP.

Yesterday, anti-Bersih campaigner Jamal Md Yunos denied the red-shirts group he led issued the death threats. He doubted the threats were genuine.

The Sungai Besar Umno chief reiterated his claim that Bersih had been infiltrated by IS, and said people like the Bersih secretariat members "should have died long ago".

Jamal was arrested this morning at the KL International Airport, upon returning from Dubai, and remanded for two days.

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the government had no information that Bersih had been infiltrated by IS.

The red-shirts group had clashed with Bersih during the electoral reform movement's nationwide convoy in the lead-up to the Nov 19 Bersih 5 rally.

The Bersih 5 rally is to demand for clean elections, clean government, the strengthening of parliamentary democracy, the right to dissent and the empowering of Sabah and Sarawak.
