"Be a man and do the right thing."

That was the message from a group of "fighters" who today challenged red-shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos to a martial arts duel.

Branding themselves as Gabungan Pejuang Rakyat Demi Negara, group spokesperson Sharul Nizam Abdul Rahim told a press conference in Kota Damansara that his intention was to spread his anti-bullying.

Shahrul Nizam said he first issued the challenge to Jamal earlier this month but received no response.

The same challenge was also issued to Jamal's right hand man Razali Zakaria.

"I use the (fighting) name 'Abang Kucing anti-bully' and I have assembled a line-up of 'people's warriors' to challenge Jamal to enter the ring.

"Rather than resort to acts of gangsterism, I decided to change the fight so it is legal," he said.

He was referring to reported incidents of red-shirts supporters being involved in physical clashes with Bersih supporters.

Among others, Shahrul said Jamal's supporters were seen bullying women and the elderly whom he said were defenceless.

"I have travelled across the country including to Sabah and Sarawak and assembled these group of warriors who are ready to challenge Jamal," he said.

"Abang Kucing will give Jamal one month to respond and then we will set up the stage for a fight," he said, speaking in the third person.

Asked what would happen if Jamal turned down his challenge, Shahrul Nizam said: "Then enough is enough. He should stop acting like a gangster."

He added that Jamal is not only free to choose his opponent but also the type of fight - be it boxing, silat, taekwando or other types of martial arts.

One of the fighters who introduced himself as Alexander from Sabah said he is ready to face Jamal either alone or in a multi-cornered fight.

"I am not a gangster. I am an animal lover but I accept the challenge (to fight Jamal)," he said.

There were around 20 martial arts practitioners at press conference, with each claiming to be trained in different forms of self-defence or mixed martial arts.

The group's leader Zaienal Abidin Omar, who is also a Bersatu leader, said he was approached to help organise the fight.

He said he agreed to do as it would be a good move to stop Jamal's bullying tactics.

"He (Jamal) must accept Abang Kucing's challenge to prove his might and strength in the ring," said Zaienal.
