Abduction video leaked; DAP's autonomy vow; Rukunegara preamble rejected

KINI ROUNDUP Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Pastor's abduction video leaked

Police confirm the CCTV footage circulating online is indeed of Pastor Raymond Koh's abduction in Petaling Jaya in Feb 13. It shows the assailants abducting the pastor in broad daylight, in less than a minute.

Meanwhile some 300 people gathered near the Selangor police headquarters for a candlelight vigil for Koh, after police deployed anti-riot personnel to bar the group from gathering outside the police building.

DAP vows to return 50pct of tax proceeds to Sabah, Sarawak

DAP said it will return to Sabah and Sarawak all taxes collected from these states if it takes over Putrajaya, on top of providing 20 percent oil royalty and full autonomy in education and healthcare.

Meanwhile DAP's Sri Tanjong assemblyperson Chan Foong Hin slammed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for promising a world class Pan-Borneo Highway when the standard of roads in Sabah are not on par with peninsular Malaysia.

Legal experts reject Rukunegara as preamble

Legal experts and academicians at a Malay rights pressure group Perkasa-hosted roundtable discussion rejected the proposal by rights groups to include the Rukunegara as a preamble to the Federal Constitution.

Former chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad said adding the Rukunegara as a preamble will disturb the status quo as the Rukunegara does not speficially address Malays, bumiputeras or Islam.

Other Kinibites

Police arrested seven individuals for suspicion of having links with terror organisations, including two who allegedly received instructions from an Islamic State militant to conduct a "large scale" car bomb attack.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said Pakatan Harapan has decided that DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang will be deputy prime minister if it wins the 14th general election, accusing DAP of riding Malay-led parties to power in an "Ali Baba" deal.

In response, Lim said Najib is misled by the "fevered imaginations" of his advisers and urged the PM to seek psychiatric help.

PKR deputy president said the party needs more time so it can persuade PAS to strike an electoral pact with Pakatan Harapan.

Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission director Azmi Alias promised that "drastic action" will soon be taken on the graft case implicating a state executive councillor's son and special officer.
