The following is an advice from a reader who have been receiving a spate of hate messages and wild rumours via SMS.

Ibnu Hakeem: Over the past 48 hours, I have been receiving a spate of hate messages and wild rumours via SMS. Their frequency seems to be increasing. It is almost as if these hate messages are being coordinated and orchestrated. I say this because some of them are subtle but sophisticated.

Yesterday, one message came through the SMS saying a girl of a particular race had been kidnapped by some men of another race. Today, I received two SMSes saying people of a particular race were distributing flyers somewhere in Kuala Lumpur alleging that people of another race were plotting this and plotting that.

Then I have also been receiving the usual very stupid religious hatred messages including one most stupid message that a particular brand of mineral water was actually 'air jampi' by a particular religion that could change your faith.

The fact that these messages are coming through one after another gives the appearance that it could be orchestrated. Fellow Malaysians, please do not spread, resend or forward these rumours and hate messages to anyone. Let's nip them in the bud by erasing them. Also do not be influenced or moved by these messages.

I am a Muslim and I have the greatest respect and care for all my fellow Malaysian friends, be they Muslim or non-Muslim. And I know that all of you share my sentiments. We all care for each other - maybe more than we would like to openly admit.

Happy Merdeka and may God Bless all our people and our country.

On History textbooks don't ignore other races

SH Huang: I agree with Dr Wee on the omission of certain historical figures. Capitan Yap Ah Loy, the founder of Kuala Lumpur, and Tun Sambanthan, founder of MIC, are historical figures.

And according to Dr Wee, Capitan Yap Ah Loy and Tun Sambanthan do not appear in the history book. Surely, there is something wrong. Then what about the freedom fighters against Japanese Occupation of the then Malaya? Surely, they are part of history.

Historical facts do not lie; only history writers could give a slant to, or obliterate, historical events. Write the truth and shame the devil! Do not write with one eye closed!

On Chia: Stop fighting like in pre-Merdeka days

Meng: "Is it something new? No. Is it something more serious than previously? The answer is still no." Will it continue? Yes.

As long as we have the BN formula, this back and forth jibes at each other and between the component parties will always occur. The BN continues to function based on race and each component party looks after the interest of their own community. Gerakan is the exception where it is more political party with a multiracial interest. Nevertheless, it sits in a racially segregated coalition and the issues inadvertibly will always be racial.

On Petronas refutes Chad's tax evasion charges

Ahmad Fuad: Maybe the 'taxes' that Petronas claimed to have settled in full, are not taxes after all. Maybe the Chadian government treated them as "wang ehsan".

On Mahathir: I did not shackle the judiciary

MSY: It is true, Tun, you did not shackle the judiciary. You killed it. We need to restore some civility torn down by you over the last 22 years.

On Let royal commission probe judicial crisis

Eng: Perhaps the judgement of the Almighty is already upon Malaysia. Until Pak Lah right the wrongs of the previous administration, bringing to justice all who have squandered and plundered in the name of progress, Malaysians will always suffer the consequences. Those who have illegally brought money out of the country and stashed their wealth in foreign accounts should be investigated and prosecuted regardless of their political standing. After all, is it not all are equal before the law or is it only some of us?

It is time to put the blindfold on lady justice again and balance the weight. Pak Lah must do what is right in the eyes of God and man to vindicate the judges who had been wrongly sacked.

On 'Sack Nazri' resolution: Was it passed?

MO8: Datuk Nazri, the minister in the Prime Minister's Department, has his right to make his comments just like Tun Dr Mahathir has his right to make comments on the way the nation is run. So do all other Malaysians have the right to make their comments.

Whether you agree or disagree with him is your business, not his. In fact, by his comments we could see the rationale of his arguments. Arguments without solid proofs are hollow. You have to back up your arguments with substance.

It is pointless to shout and berate. Have a cool head. Unfortunately, some people get heated up easily and lose their temper. They are speechless in face of facts. So, they resort to shouts and threats. Some go to the extreme of throwing chairs! Or burning effigies! Be cool and calm; talk sense. Accept opposing views like gentlemen.
