YOUR SAY: 'MCA hypocrisy revealed for all'
Published:  Jul 25, 2008 9:35 AM
Updated: 5:36 AM

your say 'Now that news has broken out that Umno has talked to PAS, why is MCA so quiet? DAP is the devil for cooperating with PAS, but not Umno?'

On PM for all M'sians, but minus S'gor?

Kenny Gan:

MCA has always castigated DAP for working with PAS. Before the 2008 elections, MCA tried to whip up fear among the Chinese that DAP's co-operation with PAS meant support for an Islamic state.

After the elections, MCA's Ong Ka Chun demanded that DAP apologise to the Chinese for misleading them and forming state governments with PAS.

Now that news has broken out that Umno has talked to PAS about sharing power, why is MCA so quiet? DAP is the devil for cooperating with PAS, but not Umno?

Or is it that MCA dare not speak up against their Umno masters?

MCA's hypocrisy has been revealed for all to see. Their trousers have slipped off and their stark impotence is not a pretty sight.

Do Chinese need any more proof that this pointless and powerless party cannot represent them and only exists to serve itself?

The Bigger Picture: Though I share Lim Kit Siang's curiosity in understanding Abdullah's thoughts while he was contemplating the power sharing in Selangor, what I really would like to know is what the non-Umno Barisan components in Selangor were thinking.

Did they even know? This would be the real mystery. If they knew, then the general public would most likely brand them as cosmetic pawns.

Their presence in BN would be a mere public relations stunt and they would not really have had any say against the Khir Toyo regime.

However, if they did know, then Umno would be labelled the grand overseer which could do whatever it wishes, regardless of the other component partys' interests.

Whatever their answer, it will be bad for BN.

Baiyuensheng:

Sometimes I wish that there was a way that the Malays and non-Malays could have a swap. Then the non-Malays could appreciate more of the Malay psyche, and likewise the Malays on the non-Malays.

If God really knew that creating us in different colours and throwing in a couple of religious beliefs would create such a big headache, then why do it?

I can only take solace that this problem is not just a Malaysian-centric one, that it is a world-centric one.

History has tonnes of facts on people who went to war due to the colour of their skin and religious beliefs. This fact is somehow lost to us.

We have invented machines to go to the moon and other wonderful things that have advanced mankind's knowledge and creature comfort, but none spend a lot of time trying to invent a way to get us out of this mindset.

Is this possible? Sometimes it seems so hopeless.

On 'Don't blame Anwar, it's you, Khir'

Eileen Teh: I am very proud of Sallahudin Ayub and Nik Aziz. Truly, they are principled,

as they are not tempted by the sweet talk of Umno. You will have my vote again. Cheers!

Ex-Malaysian In UK:

This guy Khir Toyol's racist attempts to bribe PAS and unite Malays will deepen the mistrust between Malays and non-Malays. We don't want to have a Chinese equivalent of Hindraf in Malaysia.

Such an organisation would spell disaster for the whole country. If it happens, Khir Toyo will be entirely responsible for it.

Kaisim: The recent secret meeting between Umno and PAS goes to show that Umno always does desperate things when they become weak.

They want to hold on to power, so they will even collaborate with an arch-rival by having secret meetings under the guise of Malay unity and Islam. They have forgotten their component friends altogether.

In the case of Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, he wanted to save his skin, lest the Pakatan government dig up more bad things in the next few months. As for our PM, he has forgotten what he promised before the elections - to be the prime minister to all Malaysians - he can't walk his talk.

Our bankrupt politicians will always play the racial card when they become desperate. History has shown that practically every major Umno politician has, at some point, played this game to further his own agenda.

Malaysia has become backward because of these selfish politicians. For the first time in fifty years, it's time to say enough to this racial thing. Malaysia is a multi-racial society. It is a beautiful country but we have not done much to sell Malaysia to the world.

We need to look at our society at large and talk less on race, religion and the NEP. Treat the Anak Malaysia fairly.

A Non-Malay: Thank God for Anwar! At least he is able to see that Selangor and Malaysia do not consist only of Malays. All non-Malay voters in Selangor, please remember what Khir Toyo has said now.

He is only concerned about Malays and not about you. In his eyes, all non-Malays who ask for their basic rights as guaranteed in the constitution are extremists. Let this insight guide your decision in the next election.

Mooshie Mooshie: It is now clear that Pakatan Rakyat is not the one courting BN MPs or state assembly persons to join them.

Our Mat Khir has been doing it to entice PAS to join BN from day three after the election and the PM actually condoned this. The whole cabinet actually knows about the same.

When Pakatan mentioned that MPs from BN will cross over, what did they say? They made all kinds of accusations and even called them prostitutes.

The Chinese, the Indian, and even Malay community know PAS as a religious party and they will not sell their souls like the BN Umno leaders. BN, you can keep your positions for now, and get punished in the 13th GE.

Maugham:

While it is positive to think that PAS is mature enough to decide and support PR, nevertheless, there have been instances when PAS was aligned with Umno and separated later on. This does not augur well for PR.

Frankly, I support PAS as long as they are in PR, but once broken, that will be the end of the support given to PAS. Enough is enough.

A True Malaysian:

What does our Khir Toyo think of Malaysia? Someone or a group of outstanding lawyers should take him to court so that his mouth is stitched closed. This guy, a has-been, is a washed-out case.

He is now trying to make a come back by playing racial politics. He thinks the rakyat (Malays, Chinese, Indians and other races) are that stupid.

If he opens his mouth further with all these sort of racial statements, be sure he is going to be the next person responsible for the Barisan Nasional's complete wash out in the next general election.

Someone in the legal profession should teach him a hard lesson that he will never forget.

Gman: What this clearly shows of Khir Toyo is his greed for power, with no intention whatsoever of serving the people. He and his followers need a lesson in the principles of democracy.

People today are not ignorant nor stupid. The people have voted and decided during the recent elections, so just let it be.

You need to realise it is your greed, corruption and plundering that has crippled and continues to cripple the present ruling government.

To our dear PM, its time you realise this too.

PITY: The biggest current threat to Malaysia as a nation is the recent rhetoric raised by politicians from BN on race issues for, unfortunately, more personal gain rather than for the good of the nation or for the rakyat .

Isn't that what the ISA is for? To protect against undesirable elements or individuals posing great threats to national security?

If instilling hatred and disunity among the various races of Malaysia (who are mostly living in harmony) is not a great national threat, what else is greater?

Those in power - if you have real concern about Malaysia as a nation, use the ISA to arrest any Malaysians - be they politicians, ministers or whomever - who uses the race issue for personal gains.

Otherwise, instruct your people to stop using this rhetoric. The rakyat is a much better informed group now than before. Malaysia has grown as a nation and the common people understand and can see the benefits that harmony can bring to a nation.

Clear examples of detrimental results from racial dis-harmony are out there for all to see. Is this what you want? The rakyat do not want that. Rakyat - you have the vote!

Cheah: Once, we were ‘at war' with Singapore and the ruling party decided to go the wrong way just to preserve their supremacy over the others. Now we know there are no winners, as we are left far behind and we can never catch up with the world.

It seems this group of ‘ultras' have an ‘under siege' mentality. They are very fearful that their own language, culture, religion and whatnot will be dominated by other races.

Surya: I am so ashamed to be Malaysian. The whole world is looking at us. Why are the PM, DPM and now this Toyo speaking and acting so foolishly? I just don't know what to say anymore.

My request is simple - please, please, please, for goodness sake, think more than twice before you speak or act. If you don't have the brains, please, please, please shut up.

Number_15959:

Khir Toyo's pathetic admission of trying to make a pact with PAS after the election goes to show just to what extent these so-called leaders would go to in order to maintain the Umno status quo.

To Khir Toyo, I have only one thing to say - if you were not given the broom for Umno's poor showing in Selangor in the last GE, then you should be given the broom now.

You yourself have admitted to the racist policy you and your bunch of colleagues have been practicing for the last 50 years.

I don't know about the you, but the air in Malaysia has sure felt fresher since the last GE.

M Kam: It is simple Khir, you want Malay unity then dissolve Umno with all Umno members joining PAS. There won't be corruption in the government administration.

This should be a better idea than having meetings between Umno and PAS because PAS is the only party can protect the Malay interest and the religion - not people like you.

You are like an old CD. Don't repeat yourself again and again. We are not stupid to listen to you.

Caring Malaysian:

Khir Toyo is such an extremely selfish politician. In order to regain his personal political power and wealth, he would rather sacrifice our whole nation by coming out with all kinds of unethical, immoral and irresponsible statements.

Our nation would be far behind other Asean countries if we are under the leadership of people like Khir Toyo.

Khir Toyo, please re-assess what are the real values in life. Fulfilling your own personal selfish targets or trying to build up the future of our nation?
