Sunway hosted over 300 children during its #SunwayforGood Raya Cheer 2024 celebration at Sunway Resort Hotel, graced by Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin. This celebration marked the end of the group’s month-long nationwide Sinar Ramadan CSR initiative.

Held in partnership with the Selangor Youth Community (SAY), this celebration saw children from orphanages namely Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Bimbingan At-Taqwa, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan As-Shakur, Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Rumah Raudhatul Al-Faeez and other activity centres for low-income families being treated to a delectable buffet spread. They also engaged in fun DIY activities involving friendship bracelets, traditional wau and Raya packets, amid performances by SAY’s professional dancers and singers.

Sunway Group deputy chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Razman M. Hashim shared, "Corporate Social Responsibility has always been a part of Sunway’s DNA, and our #SunwayforGood Raya Cheer initiative symbolises our unwavering commitment to social responsibility and helping the underserved.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are reminded of our responsibility to continue supporting and uplifting those around us in the years ahead."

Adding to the significance of the event, Tengku Permaisuri Selangor took a personal interest in the children's activities, engaging with them and participating in the fun, lending her support for the community and social welfare initiatives.

The children also took home with duit Raya, vitamin C supplements, chocolates, towels, eco-friendly farm kits, towels generously sponsored by Sunway Theme Parks, Sunway Resort Hotel, Sunway Malls and Sunway XFarms.

The children helped themselves to the sup soto ayam and bread, as part of the sumptuous buffet spread served during the Raya  Cheer celebration at Sunway Resort Hotel.

The successful Raya Cheer 2024 event marks the conclusion of the #SunwayforGood Sinar Ramadan CSR initiative which had impacted more than 4,000 lives nationwide with the strong and continuous support of our long-term partners, namely Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor (YRZSNJ), SAY, Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRC) and Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN).

As part of its 50th Anniversary, Sunway will ramp up its CSR initiatives to continue championing programmes that contribute positively to society and embody the spirit of togetherness.

In July 2024, the Sunway – RapidKL Good Run 2024 will aim to welcome more than 10,000 runners in a one-of-a-kind running and fundraising event to all proceeds from the three categories of runs – 5KM, 10KM, 21.1KM, will be distributed to 5 charity homes nationwide.

Sunway is also pledging to pack over 500,000 meals at its annual Meal Pack-a-thon drive in September 2024 for underprivileged communities in Malaysia and abroad. These packed meals, which adds to Sunway’s overall goal to pack two million meals by 2024, will go towards alleviating hunger and addressing food security among Orang Asli communities, orphanages, senior living homes, and B40 communities in the region, as well as the underprivileged living abroad.

These activities are part of the #SunwayforGood CSR umbrella which covers three key areas, namely education, healthcare, and community enrichment. Since its inception in 2017, the initiative has touched more than half a million lives, and aims to impact the lives of millions more.
