The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MISI) continues to make meaningful strides in digital empowerment with the successful completion of its latest programme, AI-Powered Photography and Visual Editing Programme, held in Masai, Johor from 16 to 20 April 2025.
A total of 25 participants graduated from the programme, which was designed to enhance creative potential and digital literacy among the Malaysian Indian community. This initiative reaffirms the government’s ongoing commitment to upskilling Malaysian Indian talent for future-ready careers.

The five-day programme provides participants with three key areas:
AI-Based Photography and Visual Editing Techniques
AI-Based Video Editing
Creative Income Generation and Business Development
During the closing and graduation ceremony, participants were awarded certificates of participation which served as a meaningful encouragement for them to continue honing their skills and exploring opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital creative industry. This reflects MISI’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and enabling inclusive access to emerging technologies.

This initiative, organised under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), forms part of MISI’s broader mission to equip the Malaysian Indian community with future-ready skills that foster economic participation and self-sustainability.
This effort also aligns with the progressive vision of Human Resources Minister Yang Berhormat Steven Sim Chee Keong, whose leadership continues to steer Malaysia towards a more equitable and skills-driven future. His steadfast support for this kind of initiatives, reflects his dedication to empowering all communities through education, innovation and digital inclusion.
YB Steven Sim’s efforts in championing fairer access to the digital economy have been widely recognised, positioning him as a key figure in Malaysia’s social and economic development landscape.
Since its launch in November 2024, MISI has successfully enrolled over 8,000 participants in high-demand fields such as Artificial Intelligence, smart farming, and drone technology, catering to industry needs for skilled professionals.
MISI’s impact goes beyond employment, promoting entrepreneurship, lifelong learning and career advancement, ensuring long-term success for Malaysian Indians.
