McDonald’s Malaysia continues to deepen customer engagement through heartfelt storytelling with the launch of its latest mini drama series, “Senyuman”. Premiering on 7 August 2025, the seven-episode digital series will be released across McDonald’s Malaysia’s official social media platforms. What sets Senyuman apart is its multilingual storytelling, reflecting McDonald’s Malaysia’s unique way of connecting with Malaysians from all walks of life.

Senyuman is the latest addition to McDonald’s Malaysia’s successful line-up of digital mini-series, which blend entertainment and brand storytelling while spotlighting the everyday value offered through the McDonald’s App. Previous fan favourites include “Rugi Tau Tak Pakai App McD”, “Love at McD”, “Ms App”, “The Best Deal”, and “Kau Sundaeku”.

“At McDonald’s Malaysia, we’re committed to delivering delicious feel-good moments to Malaysians – whether through our food, our service, or how we connect with our customers,” said Chin Mei Lee, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Malaysia. “Senyuman is a reflection of that feel-good spirit – a story that’s warm, relatable, and close to home. At the same time, we’re making the McDonald’s experience even more accessible through our app, so customers can enjoy more of what they love, anytime and anywhere.”

The series stars Jack Tan, an award-winning actor known for his emotional depth and versatility, in the lead role of Ming. Starring opposite him is Nabila Razali, a popular singer and actress whose charm brings warmth to the character of June. Audiences can also look forward to a special appearance by Lim Jian Wen, adding further depth to the emotional journey. Together, the cast brings to life a story rooted in friendship, empathy, and the small moments that matter most.

Senyuman follows the story of Ming (Jack Tan), a quiet and withdrawn young man who has forgotten how to smile. His colleague June (Nabila Razali) gently reaches out, and one evening, invites him to McDonald’s for dinner. There, a simple serving of Fries sparks a heartfelt journey of connection and emotional healing.

“This isn’t just another project, it’s a deeply human story,” said Jack Tan. “I was drawn to the emotional depth of the script. Ming’s quiet pain is something many can relate to, and portraying that vulnerability was a challenge I embraced. I love that McDonald’s Malaysia chose to tell such a meaningful story, it shows how the brand values emotional connection, not just great food.”

In her first-ever mini drama series, Nabila Razali added: “Unlike typical upbeat commercials, Senyuman takes a softer, more heartfelt approach. My character brings joy to Ming’s world, and I had fun being the sunshine in his storm, even sneaking in some jokes between takes! It’s refreshing to see McDonald’s Malaysia telling stories that go beyond product, and instead focus on the emotions we all share.”

At the heart of McDonald’s Malaysia’s efforts is a mission to make everyday moments more convenient and enjoyable – a goal brought to life through the McDonald’s App. With over 19 million downloads and 1.4 million active users, the app offers a seamless way to order, enjoy daily deals, and earn rewards. Senyuman is the latest in a growing line of digital mini dramas that creatively showcase how the app fits into everyday Malaysian life – making delicious feel-good moments even easier to enjoy.
