The Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day (MSRD) achieved a landmark success with 5,000 final-year E&E students from across Malaysia — with strong contingents from the northern and southern regions — meeting 30+ semiconductor employers and exploring 600 high-value job opportunities. The fair facilitated over 1,500 on-the-spot interviews, underscoring real hiring momentum and immediate outcomes for graduates.

Organised by the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) under the Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) and held alongside SDEC 2025, the event reinforced Selangor’s role as the epicentre of Malaysia’s semiconductor talent pipeline.

Students came from UniMAP, USM, UTM Johor Bahru, UTHM, UMPSA, UiTM (incl. Puncak Alam), UM, UKM, UPM, IIUM, Sunway, Taylor’s, UCSI, University of Nottingham Malaysia, UNISEL, UTAR, MMU Cyberjaya, Politeknik Nilai, and more — reflecting nationwide reach and growing enthusiasm for careers in chip design, verification, and R&D

Over 30 global and local companies — including AMD, Infineon Technologies, Texas Instruments, Vitrox, SkyeChip, Maistorage, FirstChip, STMicroelectronics, NXP, Tenasic, Oppstar, and Melexis — offered roles with RM5,000–RM6,500 starting salaries for fresh grads and up to RM35,000/month for senior engineers.

“This is Malaysia’s most successful semiconductor recruitment drive — a strong signal that our ecosystem is maturing and creating real opportunities for our youth,” said Angel Low, General Manager at ASEM. “Through partnerships between industry and academia, we’re building not just jobs, but careers that drive Malaysia’s deep-tech future.”

The event’s success underscores Malaysia’s deep commitment to building a skilled, high-income semiconductor workforce. The Selangor State Government’s investments in the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park in Puchong and the upcoming IC Design Park 2 in Cyberjaya, coupled with ASEM’s goal to train 20,000 engineers by 2035, will accelerate national growth under the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS)

The success of MSRD underscores the alignment between Selangor’s deep-tech initiatives and Budget 2026, which prioritises semiconductor investment, talent, and innovation.

Selangor continues to play a central role in this transformation through the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park — home to 14 ecosystem partners — and the upcoming IC Design Park 2 in Cyberjaya. Together with ASEM, these initiatives are designed to train 20,000 engineers by 2035, creating a sustainable talent pipeline for the region.
