KUALA LUMPUR : The Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center is inviting Malaysian businesses to explore opportunities in Tokyo through the Tokyo–Malaysia Business Partnership Seminar 2025, to be held on Dec 10 (Wednesday) from 12pm to 4.30pm at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur.

The seminar aims to support Malaysian entrepreneurs, SMEs, start-ups, and corporations that are interested in expanding their business or setting up operations in Tokyo. It will also serve as a platform for participants to meet directly with Tokyo-based business support agencies and learn about the various incentives available for foreign business owners.

According to the organiser, many Malaysian companies are eager to enter the Japanese market but may not have clear information about the procedures, available support schemes, or how to find suitable local partners. The seminar is designed to address these challenges through practical guidance, updates, and one-on-one consultation sessions with Tokyo’s official representatives.

Key highlights include updates on Tokyo’s dynamic business ecosystem, insights into Tokyo’s investment landscape, and networking opportunities with agencies that support international expansion.

A special highlight this year is a dialogue session with Mr. Sean Tan, Founder & CEO of Crave Asia Sdn Bhd, who will share his first-hand experience of building a startup presence in Tokyo — and how this early move has helped him gain deeper market insights, build strong connections, and prepare his company for future global growth.

Mr. Sean’s business ventures span digital technology, immersive experiences, automation, and education, with a focus on driving digital transformation across industries and education sectors.

His key projects include developing digital and immersive experience platforms for international brands, as well as introducing “QBot”, a modular self-service system designed for the food and beverage, retail, hospitality, and service industries. The concept draws inspiration from Japan’s highly efficient and digitized operations.

In addition, he has developed an artificial intelligence teaching platform called “AI Classroom”, which has already been implemented in an international special education school in Malaysia to enhance teaching efficiency and interactive learning.

Mr. Sean’s journey offers practical insights on how Malaysian startups can begin their global expansion by establishing an early presence in Japan, understanding the market, and identifying future opportunities.

Participation in the seminar is free of charge and open to business owners, decision-makers, and organisations exploring international market opportunities. Attendees may join in person at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur or online via livestream.
