PETALING JAYA: LGMS Berhad (LGMS) and INTI International College Subang (INTI) have signed a partnership agreement to roll out a Cyber Security Cadet Programme that aims to strengthen Malaysia’s cyber talent pipeline as demand for skilled security professionals continues to exceed supply nationwide.
Undertaken by LGMS’ wholly owned subsidiary Applied Security Intelligence Sdn Bhd (ASI), the programme is designed to equip students with practical, industry-aligned skills while giving them early access to real cyber defence environments.

LGMS Chairman Fong Choong Fook said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of cyber defenders at a time when threats are rising and organisations face growing pressure to secure their systems.
“Our industry can no longer rely solely on traditional classroom learning. Students need hands-on exposure that mirrors real-world conditions,” Fong said. “Through this partnership with INTI, we are helping to develop graduates who can contribute and support Malaysia’s digital resilience.”
Meanwhile, INTI Chief Executive Dr Jane Lim said the collaboration underscores INTI’s long-standing focus on producing job-ready graduates through strong ties with industry leaders.
“At INTI we work hard to ensure our students gain superior learning experiences that prepare them for real careers,” she said. “Cyber security requires both theoretical understanding and practical competence. This programme gives our students access to industry experts, tools and simulations that accelerate their readiness for future roles.”

The collaboration formalises a structured pathway for students to build real cyber security skills, combining LGMS’ industry expertise with INTI’s academic environment.
Under the programme, students will receive hands-on training through modules, tools, simulated environments and certification routes aligned with current market needs.
ASI will contribute industry-relevant content, including introductory and co-branded certifications, as well as access to tools used in live operational environments. Students may be offered internship placements through ASI’s network, giving them early exposure to the realities of modern cyber defence work.
In addition, qualified students would also be compensated for their visits to LGMS’ wide clientele, providing both professional and financial benefits. The incentive ensures students are rewarded for their contributions while gaining exposure to real operational environments.
“Engaging with various businesses offers students a broad perspective on the cybersecurity challenges across different sectors. This industry exposure is crucial for developing a well-rounded understanding of the cybersecurity landscape,” said Fong.
By establishing a structured and sustainable talent development pipeline, the Cyber Security Cadet Programme aims to nurture a new generation of cyber professionals capable of supporting Malaysia’s critical sectors and digital growth in the years and decades ahead.
