Setel introduced its new Cash Top-Up feature, enabling customers to add funds to their Setel Wallet using cash at PETRONAS stations nationwide. This enhancement opens the door for more Malaysians, especially cash-preferring customers to enjoy the speed, convenience, and rewards of the most seamless mobility and payments app without needing online banking or cards. With Cash Top-Up, customers who prefer using cash can now access the full Setel ecosystem, including fuel purchases (BUDI95 included), parking, shopping, Mesra Rewards, and more through a simple one-time verification process. For BUDI95 recipients, Setel remains the most convenient and rewarding way to enjoy the subsidy, and the new cash top-up option ensures even more people can benefit without changing their payment habits. Cash Top-Up is now available at more than 1,000 PETRONAS stations nationwide, ensuring seamless access for cash-first users across the country.

To support individuals new to digital payments, assistance for topping up with cash will be available at PETRONAS stations, offering a smooth and guided experience. For those who typically pay at the counter, Cash Top-Up provides a compelling reason to switch to Setel while retaining their preferred payment method and still experience the speed, safety, and efficiency of app-based fuelling and rewards.
“At Setel, we recognise that many Malaysians still rely on cash, and our role is to make everyday payments easier and faster without asking them to change how they live. With Cash Top-Up at PETRONAS stations, customers can simply walk in, top up with cash, and immediately enjoy the full Setel experience. As we roll this out nationwide, including in remote and underserved areas, we are bringing more Malaysians along on the digital journey and ensuring no one is left behind. This is about building a more inclusive digital ecosystem that connects communities across the country and allows everyone, regardless of location or payment preference, to benefit from the convenience, security, and rewards of Setel. Ultimately, it is about simplifying life for Malaysians and moving forward together, on their terms,” said Abdullah Ayman Awaluddin, Chief Executive Officer of Setel.

Cash Top-Up also addresses a key concern among cash users, which is the issue of unused balances after refuelling. With Setel, any remaining amount can be used across the ecosystem, not just for fuel, but also for parking, retail, car services, motor insurance renewal, and payments via DuitNow QR. This ensures every ringgit topped up is fully utilised, with no breakage.
As part of its commitment to expanding digital access, Setel’s ongoing ‘Setel je! Senangnya’ campaign with Mesra Rewards, plays a strategic role in familiarising Malaysians with the convenience of the app. More than a promotion, the initiative gives first-time digital adopters a hands-on chance to experience how Setel simplifies daily journeys, from fuelling to parking, shopping, and Mesra Rewards earnings.
Through the campaign, non-Setel users including cash-first individuals receive RM10 upfront to try fuelling with the app when they download and sign up with the code [C-SENANG], plus a share of 60,000,000 Mesra Rewards points and entries to win RM320,000 worth of prizes upon completing their first fuelling. Additional entries can be earned by continuing to fuel, shop, park, pay, and refer friends, making every interaction with Setel even more rewarding.

The ‘Setel je! Senangnya’ campaign runs until 31 January 2026, allowing new and existing users to fully explore the Setel ecosystem and its many benefits.
