Taiwan has made outstanding achievements in the semiconductor industry not only possessing a vital position globally but playing a critical force in the global supply chain.

Taiwan's upstream and downstream semiconductors are closely integrated, with high market shares in the three major fields of IC design, manufacturing, and packaging and testing, which lead to overall output value in 2020 exceed 100 billion USD and increase to over 130 billion USD in 2021, with 26.7% growth rate ranking as the second-largest semiconductor industry in the world by country in terms of production value.

Semiconductors have always been a key development area in Taiwan, with the world's most sophisticated semiconductor industry chain and resources. The demand for talent has also expanded with the increase in production capacity. The Taiwanese government has also actively built Taiwan into an " advanced semiconductor process center" and "high-end manufacturing center.”

In response to industrial development, Taiwan welcomes foreign talents to join and is committed to providing a good work and study environment suitable for overseas talents, which the related policies include expanding the identification of professional skills, loosening the requirements to apply for permanent residence, and extending tax concessions and social security measures.
