WCIT: Techfest 2022 features more than 500 innovative products and is open to public

PENANG: On the second day of WCIT 2022, PIKOM, together with the Penang State Government, Lead Agencies and tech partners, has introduced the TechFest 2022 and the best part is, it is open for the public to join too.

There are more than 500 innovative brands and products which will be featured till the 18th of September 2022. 

Agencies including Invest Penang, Digital Penang, Penang City Council (MBPP), Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), Penang Science Cluster and Penang Smart Parking (PSP) have provided support and facilitation towards staging of TechFest 2022.

Providing an experiential journey

By design, TechFest 2022 focuses on the need of technology to better lives, how it is used daily to enhance and improve business operations and modernise lifestyles. 

PIKOM Chairman Dr Sean Seah said that the TechFest 2022 will enable visitors to gain exposure to a multitude of innovations, progress and the future of technology that will influence lifestyle and business. This is the largest experiential technology festival and conference in Malaysia post pandemic taking place in conjunction with WCIT 2022. 

YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, the Chief Minister of Penang, explained that the ‘educating’ element in TechFest 2022 certainly merge well with the efforts of the Penang state government to create an inclusive digital society, which is pivotal in our Penang2030 Vision of “A Family-Focused Green and Smart State That Inspires the Nation”, as outlined in the Penang Digital Transformation Masterplan (or simply known as the DTMP) 1.0 (2021-2023) document.

TechFest 2022 features main exhibitors such as Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce, iTrainKids, MRANTI, TIME, YES, Angkasa-X, Tech Dome Penang, Legatus, SEA Dragon, FUTURISE, Crest, ACP Championship Malaysia, Acestar, Bad Ape NFT, pentas.io, Seetiverse.io, APEX, SIME Darby Motors, Veon Szu Law, Polygon, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and MX Global among others.

PIKOM said participants of WCIT 2022 along with the local Penangites will be able to witness 688 drone-light flying the skies at the Penang Port, happening on 15th September 2022 Drone Sifu, which will qualify a submission to the Malaysia Book of Records, with more than 600 drones flying the sky. Plus, it will also be followed by a 6-minute choreographed musical firework.

TechFest 2022 is currently happening at the Spice Arena from 14th to 18th September 2022 and it is expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors, including spectators to the drone show.
