COMMENT | Now that the Sabah election is over and the dust has begun to settle, it may be time to look back at the explosive arrests of businessperson Albert Tei, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide Shamsul Iskandar Akin, and the subsequent corruption cases.
Several questions continue to linger in my mind.
Why was Tei, who had initially agreed to surrender to MACC on Dec 1, arrested on Nov 28 instead - a day before the Sabah election?
If the motive was to prevent him from releasing another video before the polls, then who had the power to expedite this arrest and who would benefit from him being behind bars?
During the arrest, why were items like Tei’s CCTV decoder, iPad and digital video recorder also seized?
