Persatuan Pemangkin Daya Masyarakat (Rose) and Persatuan Bertindak Pilihan Raya Bebas dan Saksama (Tindak Malaysia) acknowledge several positive steps taken by the Election Commission in presenting its first proposal.
However, we are deeply disappointed that these improvements are accompanied by serious regressions in the proposed boundaries, particularly in relation to equality of voting power, malapportionment, and local ties.
In short, the EC has taken one step forward in transparency, but two steps backwards in the substance of fair representation.
