A law degree has long been regarded as a prestigious qualification, often marking the first step into the legal profession. As the legal landscape evolves, Taylor’s University’s three-year LL.B is designed to prepare students for its emerging challenges. Through engaging lectures, interactive discussions, and case studies, students gain a strong foundation in legal principles, ethical considerations, and the intricacies of the legal system, graduating practice-ready.

Inspiring Change Through Law and Leadership

At just 22, Misha Madinah Binti Salehuddin is charting an inspiring path in the legal field. Beginning her LL.B at Taylor’s University before exercising the articulation pathway to the University of Leeds, she found the programme to be the perfect blend of rigorous training and vibrant campus life. ”For me, studying law was never just about textbooks. It was about a university experience that nurtured both professional competence and personal growth,” she said.

Misha’s interest in Taylor’s University was also shaped by her father’s early experiences at the institution, which inspired her to make the most of her own campus journey. “Hearing him share his stories from his time at Taylor’s, when co-curricular opportunities were more limited, encouraged me to take an active role in university life,” she added.

In her first year, Misha quickly made her mark. She served as Vice President of the Mooting Society, captained her team in the National Novice Arbitration Moot, and led her team to victory in the Malaysian Law Students' Network (MLSN) Critical Crackdown Policy Pitching competition. These experiences honed her research, advocacy, and leadership skills while reinforcing her belief that law is deeply connected to social impact.

Today, Misha is thriving at Leeds through Taylor’s University’s structured global pathway. She now holds leadership roles as the second Asian woman President of Women Breaking Barriers (Law School) and founder of the Asian Law Student Association Leeds Chapter. “The exposure I had at Taylor’s University gave me the confidence to step up in leadership roles abroad,” she shared.

Equipping with Ethics, Adaptability, and Global Perspective

Dr Ambikai Thuraisingam, Programme Director of the LL.B, is driving the programme’s vision of ethical, globally connected, and industry-ready graduates.

With over 30 years of legacy in legal education and recognition by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (LPQB), the LL.B provides students with a strong dual jurisdiction foundation in both Malaysian and English law, offering graduates a credible pathway to pursue the Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP).

“Its international partnerships, such as articulation opportunities to prestigious United Kingdom universities, empower students to broaden their horizons while gaining exposure to diverse legal systems and global perspectives,” said Dr Ambikai.

What sets the programme apart is its forward-looking approach that blends theory with practice. Students are immersed in experiential learning through virtual moot courts, legal clinics, internships, and community engagement, nurturing accountability, adaptability, and ethical responsibility. By incorporating innovations such as gamification and the Virtual Online Future Technology and Extended Reality (VORTEX XR) Lab, the programme reimagines legal education, equipping graduates to address emerging challenges in digital rights, sustainability, and cross-border legal issues.

Through Taylor’s Curriculum Framework, students can also complement their law major with electives, an extension, a minor, or even a second major, enabling them to graduate as multi-skilled professionals.

Strong industry linkages with leading law firms, non-governmental organisations, and regulatory bodies ensure students gain real-world insights while keeping the curriculum aligned with professional standards.
