The Citizens’ Declaration has sparked a debate among the people along with some parties who pledged support for it, but the rest remain sceptical about Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s sincerity in saving Malaysia, including myself.

Back in the late 1990s, Malaysia had the Reformasi generation who marched on the streets to protest and these people are among the young lawmakers in the opposition pact (never mind if it’s Pakatan Harapan or Pakatan Rakyat) that we have today.

To some, patriotism simply means ‘love for country’, which is a very valid way of looking at it.
