House ownership should be population percentage

I refer to the comment in PAS in Kedah: 'A misery the last one year' .

I'm not racist and I respect other races in this country. What I would like to see myself as is a fighter for my race’s rights which I truly believe in. ‘Proud Selangorian’ is also racially inclined and fighting for his/her race's rights.

Does ‘Proud Selangorian’ know on average how much a person earns in Kedah compared to those in Selangor?

This whole Kedah housing quota idea was created to ensure new house prices are kept to an affordable level and to make sure developers don't simply make high-end houses and forget about the needs of the average people of Kedah.

A shelter/home is every human being’s right. Not something that you want, it is something that you need. You can't manipulate that fact. It is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that every single Kedahan has this right.

Based on the population of Kedah, you have to create certain measures to guarantee that this is achieved. Don't manipulate my statement by saying the 50% quota is to ensure that only Kedahans own houses rather than non-Malays from other states.

I clearly stated both non-Malays and Malays from other states. This should be a social responsibility as practised by Pakatan Rakyat (and that includes DAP).

Of course, I raised the issue about the proportion of Kedah’s population in my argument. What will happen to the Malays in Kedah if they are deprived of homes to live in? Should they take it to the streets? Not that I'm implying they should.

Why is it that when it comes to sharing this piece of land called Malaysia, the argument of simple logic that everything should be divided according to a community’s proportion of the population sound ridiculous?

Can't we all have space to live and raise our families? Why must we be greedy and selfish about this?

‘Proud Selangorian’ raises the proportion of population in Singapore citing what will happen if 80% of the homes there must be owned by the Chinese community. Ever heard of Singapore’s HDB programme?

In Singapore, where the Chinese make up 80% of the population, almost 80% of them own a home and almost 30% of the Malays and Indians and ‘others’ too own homes. Home ownership there is clearly represented by the proportion of population.

Unless the bulk of housing development is run by the government, you can never guarantee a balanced home ownership as represented by the proportion of a community’s population in a country.

I know, my economics, my friend but you obviously don't understand the needs of the depressed people in Kedah.

One point made by ‘Proud Selangorian’ was that the state government should make it a 50% quota for Kedahans and not just for bumiputera.I would propose the quota be for Kedahans bumiputera only.

I'm a straight up Malay and proud of it. I love my friends from other races but when it comes to the needs of my race to live and grow in 'our' (as in belonging all Malaysians) country, I have to make a stand.
