I would like to write an account of my experience with Majlis Perbandaran Sepang which I feel is not right and would like to seek clarification.

I visited one of my clients at Cyberjaya (Prima Avenue Block 3508) last Wednesday at about 10:30am and parked my car at the roadside (Jalan Tecknokrat 6, in front of Prima Avenue Block 3508). I wasn't familiar with the new traffic rules in Cyberjaya since I have not been to Cyberjaya for a couple of years.

I parked my car behind another car. I did not realise that the space that I parked in was not a proper parking space, since I saw many other cars being parked on both sides of the road. There wasn't any 'no parking' sign or the warning sign that your car will be towed (only to realise afterwards that the sign was a distance away on the other side of the road).

When I finished my meeting at about 12 noon, I realised my car was being towed. I was charged a 'kompaun' of RM50 (discounted from RM80) and another RM220 for the tow-truck.

The clarification I want to seek is:

1.Why should we pay RM220 for the tow-truck when the distance from the place I parked to Majlis Perbandaran Sepang is less than three minutes away? If we break traffic rules, isn't a 'kompaun' good enough?

If there were clear warning signs and if the way I parked my car caused traffic congestion or danger, then it is fair to fine me. But this wasn't the case.

What is more interesting is that the tow-truck is not under Majlis Perbandaran Sepang.

1. Why is the tow-truck not owned by Majlis Perbandaran Sepang?

2. Why should we pay such hefty tow-truck charges. Who owns the company?
