I refer to the Malaysiakini report ' No difference whether Ong goes or stays '.
Why must Ong Tee Keat resign? And why is there pressure for him to step down quickly? Are there many who are actually very scared if he continues to lead the MCA?
The MCA issue is an internal leadership issue; it's an MCA family issue so why are `others' in power trying to blow it up? Is there more than what is being perceived generally? Being a loyal component party for so many years and this issue being a presidential issue, why is there `mega' interference?
I am really amused and disgusted to hear Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s comment that even during his time he used to interfere from behind in an MCA crisis.
This even when it was drummed into the rakyat's heads since 30 years ago that even the head of the ruling party would not interfere in the internal affairs and crises of the BN component parties.
This is shocking - there has been `back door politics’ since day one. Ong did the right thing. Using his presidential powers demonstrated simple and pure leadership quality.
The MCA president has his discretionary powers as well as his executive powers and the `others' should let this leader call the shots. He knows what's best for the MCA both now and thereafter.
Ong is doing a great job, his commitment in getting the Port Klang Free Zone project on track should be admired and not feared as it concerns the rakyat's money.
His consistent dedication to the party since day one which has elevated him to the highest level of the party should be a lesson for many aspiring politicians in this country. His courageous moves are the very basics of leadership by example.
Of course, he shows no preference for unethical `performance' nor wanting to hang on to power for some 22 years or an even grander 30 years. Let this leader do his job, this country needs many such leaders.
In this globalised era, we cant hide, the world is watching us so we need to promote and exhibit our highest level of maturity in trouble-shooting and managing local ` high end' issues. This, at least, will put ‘1Malaysia’ on the world map.
If not, sorry to say ‘1Malaysia’ will be seen as ‘1Desa’ and our level will be perceived as `jalur kampung ' in the global mind. Let’s move forward, guys !
