The National Civics Bureau (BTN) should project multiracialism, eradicating all forms of extremism such as racialism.

The government should review BTN courses. Is it justified to spend over RM60 million a year if these courses do not reflect the need of a plural society?

I view with interest the statement by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Aziz that the cabinet has agreed to revamp BTN's course curriculum so that it caters to all races in line with the 1Malaysia concept.

Let the chief secretary Mohd Sidek Hassan and the BTN director work out programmes that contain values and concepts to promote harmony in the country.

Nazri says," At our last meeting, the cabinet felt that we needed to revamp the curriculum to ensure it is not racially divisive."

The Selangor government had recently banned all its employees and students from state-owned institutions from attending BTN courses as they were seen as Barisan Nasional indoctrination sessions.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin should review the contents of the courses before insisting that people attend them.

In the modern world, it is not possible to hide the contents of BTN or any courses. Let the central government keep up with the time. Government agencies that use public fund should look after the people.
