I see nothing wrong with songwriter and film-maker Wee Meng Chee better known as Namewee recent video titled ‘Nah!’ which condemns a head of a school for making racist remarks. In fact, the video strongly condemns racism.

So much so that controversial songwriter and film-maker Wee Meng Chee had to give his statement to the police over his latest controversial video 'Nah!'.

He is just stating the obvious yet he is being charged for being seditious with full investigations being called for. I think the police have nothing better to do than to go after a small fry hoping that by severely punishing him then all sins are washed away.

It does not work like this. People calling to punish Wee Meng Chee are doing so for the obvious political mileage. The main question is, was the principle who made the racial statement adequately punished?

I think we all should learn from Namewee instead of showing restraint over various ills and cancers over many issues like corruption and scandals. There should be more Namewees around.

In 2007, Namewee produced a music video named ‘Negarakuku’. Let me describe the video ‘Negarakuku’.

The introduction music video ‘Negarakuku’ states that the he loves his country Malaysia as being his home and then on the police with their sharp eyes especially when the new year is near, thus the police are more ‘hardworking’ in pretending to issue summonses.

Well, this fact about ‘hardworking’ police pretending to issue summonses is a fact that cannot be denied. Maybe he should have added that the police have no sense of urgency whenever the ordinary people make police reports.

Then it moves to matters relating to 5am in the morning wake-up calls. I can only conclude that it relates to morning prayers. It is just stating the obvious fact.

The more interesting part of the video is on the part where the government only takes care of the bumiputera and not being fair to others, thus the Chinese need to be hardworking and independent. That is his opinion and we cannot grudge him for that. After all, I think we were called pendatang not very long ago by some keris -waving guy.

Moving on, the ‘Negarakuku’ video implies that the government departments work very slow with little sense of urgency despite long queues and having frequent tea breaks. Everyone must agree to that.

However, I feel that one government department is very efficient and it is the income tax collections department. When people owe a small sum, they come after them like a hawk although when they owe you, the file is always ‘lost’.

May I also mention that I once reported matters with complete proof and files relating to land scandals involving high-ranking people to many government authorities but instead got visited by the MACC asking the same questions because different government authorities do not coordinate with one aother.

Moving on, the video then states that the Chinese are not afraid to work hard, being outstanding and not needing a ‘babysitter’. An example was given by stating two Malaysian famous singers having to go to Taiwan for greener pastures. What is wrong with that?

The final segment proclaims that Chinese school students find it difficult to get into local universities leading to many going overseas to pursue further and then come back to contribute to the well-being of Malaysia. Maybe due to the quota system. An example of himself is given where he needed to go to Taiwan.

On another matter, I would like to advise Namewee to include more dancing in his videos, maybe by hiring a few down and out Chinese dancers.

Now back to the ‘Nah!’ video which strongly condemns racism. Anything wrong with it? Watch out Malaysia, I may come out with a controversial dance video. Then I should be asking my friend to write a song.
