I am a Malay Malaysian and would like to have my say on Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's resignation. I felt he was somewhat irresponsible for resigning the way he did and felt letdown too by his behaviour since he was seen as a 'very well respected moderate Muslim leader' among Muslim countries.

He has cried once too often at Umno general assemblies that people are beginning to think he is 'acting' to win sympathy and support. Little wonder then that the sandiwara (playacting) word has grown even louder. Strong leaders don't cry.

Malaysians, and Umno members in particular, must face reality and come to their senses that without Mahathir, life has to go on, and they can even make Malaysia a better place to live.

It is now a good time to review all the mega projects and stop the bleeding. Stem the financial drain and all cronies and politicians who have abused the system must go. They are the ones who have grown weak and lazy and dependable on the government for everything.

It is unfair to lump all the Malays with this errant group. I sincerely hope that Malaysians realise that Mahathir was referring to them when he lambasted the Malays recently.

It is high time we look at the leadership in all the Barisan Nasional component parties, especially MCA and MIC. Replace them with young, energetic, decent and intelligent Malaysians to make sure they don't drag Malaysia further down the drain with them.

We must not allow politicians to divide us with racial sentiments. Malaysians must treat each other with respect and there should not be any racial discrimination.
