Many have written in to explain that Allah is an Arabic name for God, which is used by Arab Muslims and Arab Christians. This statement is not disputed. Arbibi Ashoy is of the view that it is okay to use the name Allah in Arabic bible but not in any other languages. He asserts that this would lead to confusion. The Quran and the Bible are very different Holy Book and the mere usage of Allah in an Iban Bible, or in any other translations, would lead to confusion or mislead someone to believing that they are of the same religion is farfetch.

Arbibi says that Christians mainly use Jesus to refer to God. I am afraid Arbibi should not touch o­n a subject where he has little knowledge of. Although the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are considered o­ne by Christians, They each perform a different role. Arbibi is erroneous to suggest that God the Father can be substituted with Jesus.

Arbibi should also do his research o­n the Bahasa Indonesian Bible. God is not referred to as Tuhan Bapa but Allah. I would like to quote from John Chapter 3 verse 16 from the Indonesian Alkitab published by Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia 1974: "Karena begitu besar kasih Allah akan dunia ini, sehingga Ia telah mengaruniakan Anaknya yang tunggal, supaya setiap orang yang percaya kepadaNya tidak binasa, melainkan beroleh hidup yang kekal" In other verses Jesus is known as Yesus, or Anak Allah, and the Holy Spirit is known as Roh Allah.

No Arabic countries prohibit the usage of Allah by Christians and neither do the largest Muslim nation o­n earth. Thus has this to do with world-class infrastructure and third-class mentality.
