I am extremely pleased to note that our prosecution, judicial and ministerial players are advocating the virtues of the age-old concept of innocent until proven guilty concept.
It is probably why when Kasitah Gaddam was charged in court, he arrived in a government car with police protection and outriders as he was, and still is, a minister and therefore like any other citizen, he is entitled to a just and fair trial. Although I do not understand why state resources was used for what is really his private matter.
Many Umno and BN bigwigs, especially cabinet ministers (with the exception of Dr Rais Yatim) and Sabah Umno people have openly endorsed Kasitah's contention that he is innocent until proven guilty. They have ferociously called for his continuous tenure in the cabinet
That is the right way. I am glad that our ministers and political leaders have such high regard for our basic and fundamental approach to law. All Malaysians salute them for their high morale and integrity.
Hold it, hold it, what on earth am I on about? How come these principles are not being followed or espoused in the case involving the ISA 7 undergraduates , who have been suspended for holding an 'illegal' demonstration against the ISA? Are they not innocent until proven guilty?
Surely it must be an oversight that the education minister is going to immediately rectify. After all, I am sure the cabinet will not wish to be called a hypocritical lot and merely looking after their own.
Over to you now, Musa.
