Not wishing ‘Merry X'mas’ is not our culture

Greetings among Malaysians during festive celebration had been a culture not only in Malaysia but around the world. Asking Muslims not to wish Christians “Merry Christmas” during the Christmas celebration by Isma only indicates their ignorance, selfishness, arrogance and racism. We do not preach such things to Malaysians as this is not our culture, and peace-loving Malaysian will reject extremists like Isma.

Religion tolerance had been practiced in the country since its independence and no one should instigate one against another among our fellow Malaysian. Therefore, who is Isma to ask Muslims not to wish Christians “Merry Christmas”? This view has got no place among the majority, and moderate Malaysian’s will never agree to their urging.

The authorities should not allow such NGOs to come out and make such statement openly which could cause incitement among the citizens. If Isma does not want to wish Christians “Merry Christmas” it’s fine, but do not instigate others not to do so, which is tantamount to provocation and is detrimental under the law as you are causing anger among the peaceful citizens of the country.

The government should not tolerate such obstinate behaviour and must take immediate action against Isma as their statement is not healthy and seditious in nature.

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Malaysians.”
