I am appalled and a at the same time amused after reading the letter entitled Terrorism not due to poverty .

I am appalled because I am surprised that the writer only assumed that the Muslims are blaming poverty for the cause of terrorism. Why blame poverty? The Holy Quran clearly states that poverty can lead to infidelity (non-believing). Every Muslim is encouraged to obtain wealth to ensure the happiness of the 'ummah'.

Muslims countries and Muslims at large have been demanding that the world's superpower find out the root cause of the rise in terrorsim nip the problem in the bud. For the Muslims, this root cause of the rise in terrorism is due to the American's lopsided policy on Palestine.

On one hand, the Bush administration is demanding that the Palestinians lay down their arms but on the other it is at the same time supporting the Israeli's aggression against the Palestinians. The Palestinians have been suffering for decades, since the creation of the country called Israel by Lord Balfour of the United Kingdom .

They have been pushed away from their land and deprived of their right to live. The Holy Quran states that all Muslims are brothers. All Muslims are duty bound to help their brothers and sisters. That is why those caught involved in terrorism are not only from Palestine.

They are from many countries including the US. If the Americans are serious about stopping terrorism, they must be fair in their policies towards Palestine and try to find a fair solution to the mess.

America's occupation of Iraq is also another cause of the hatred Muslims have towards the US. Let the Iraqis determine the form of government they want. Why force something they don't like down their throats?

With this explanation, I hope there will be no wrong misconception about Muslims.
