Letter writer Hamdan Ibrahim is evidently not speaking the truth when he asserts that Iranian quake victims didn't get much Western aid . In this case, anti-Americanism and anti-Westernism does not resort to perverted reasoning but to dishonest suppression of facts and figures.
Almost immediately after the Bam earthquake occurred on Dec 26, 2003, the international community led by the United States, Europe and China responded with relief assistance to Iran. US airplanes, including military jets from the US Central Command, carrying food and other relief materials landed in Iran for the first time in many years.
American and European disaster relief experts were also sent to Iran to assist the emergency operations to save lives. Here is a BBC report that contradicts Hamdan's assertion.
Among the Western leaders and dignitaries who visited Iran to show sympathy and solidarity with Iranians included Prince Charles .
I am sure if we have enough time to retrieve press reports and documentary records, there are many more facts and figures to disapprove and rebut Hamdan's untrue assertion.
